This romantic trip takes in two of South Africa's greatest draws - a safari in a private reserve bordering the Kruger followed by time exploring the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. Staying in some of our favorite luxury properties, this is a perfect introduction to Africa.
From Johannesburg fly Sabi Sands Game Reserve which forms part of the Kruger National Park. The reserve is famous for its multitude of game, particularly leopard and rhino, which can be see on day and night game drives. Your safari lodge, Lion Sands River Lodge is situated in one of the larger traversing areas within the Sabi Sands. This beautiful, luxury lodge overlooks the Sabi River and game can often be found roaming about beneath the deck that has been built into the trees above the river.
You then fly on to Cape Town where you would pick up hire car for the remainder of your vacation. Situated right in the heart of Cape Town, Cape Cadogan is a beautiful boutique hotel within perfect striking distance of Cape Town's main hub of restaurants and bars. The rooms are stylish, light and airy and the service is wonderfully personal. The beautiful climate, Cape-Dutch architecture, wild coastline and outstanding restaurants make Cape Town one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. We can arrange private tours to take in some of the city's sights, tips on the best bars for evening cocktails and reserve you a table at an up and coming restaurant - anything you need to ensure you get the most out of your time in the city.

Location & Directions
Greater Kruger & Cape Town
On the banks of the Sabie river, the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve lies at the southern end of the vast Sabi Sands Reserve. It's 520km (or 5 hours) northeast of Johannesburg, and very near the Mozambique border. From there to the Cape Cadogan, on Upper Union Street, in the heart of Cape Town. Table Mountain, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and the beaches of Camps Bay are just a short drive away from here.
When to go
There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
