Best to avoid the rainy season from June to October
Costa Rica’s Central Valley enjoys a spring-like climate year round. In the tropical coastal areas the temperature is very warm and humid. Much of Costa Rica is covered by rainforest so expect rain at any time, but the drier season on the Pacific coast is from December to April and the rainier ‘green’ season is from May to November with the heaviest rainfall being in September and October. Christmas, New Year and Easter are incredibly popular so it is best to book well in advance.
A wonderful itinerary staying at Costa Rica's finest hotels and taking in its lush and varied scenery from cloud forest & volcanoes in the central valley ending on a palm fringed beach at Papagayo Bay on the Pacific coast. Ideal for couples or families.
Arrive in Costa Rica and begin your trip in the beautiful and lush Central Valley, the perfect place to unwind after a flight. Wake up to birdsong, wander the grounds and take a coffee tour after breakfast. You may also choose to explore the nearby Poas Volcano National Park where you can look down into the bubbling inner crater, hike to the La Paz waterfalls through cloud forest or simply spend time relaxing beside the pool.
Head north to the town of La Fortuna, the gateway to the Arenal Volcano. This is a great base for activity lovers as there is so much to do. We’ve included a thrilling ride through the canopy on a series of walkways and ziplines; the perfect combination of adrenaline and scenic views to the imposing volcano. For those looking to enjoy a slower pace, the region is also renowned for its soothing hot springs - perfect after a day's activity!
From Arenal head west to Papagayo Bay on the Guanacaste coast for a pampering stay. Here you can do as much or as little as you’d like. If your thirst for adventure has not already been quenched, you can go snorkelling, windsurfing and sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, white water rafting, tubing, zip-wiring between the forest canopies or hiking on volcanic slopes in Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Alternatively, just sit back, soak in the views and relax on the beach or by the pool.
Drive to either Liberia Airport or San Jose in time for your international flight home.
