Begin your journey through Chile with a couple of nights in the lively capital city, Santiago. Surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, this is just enough to whet your appetite for the dramatic scenery you will encounter throughout. Santiago’s a wonderful destination for foodies and we’ve included a privately guided tour through of some of the city's best food markets, providing the perfect introduction to the city’s revived gastronomic scene.
Your next stop takes you straight off-the-beaten-track to the less-visited Chiloé and the fabulous Tierra hotel. Fly straight into Castro, where your adventure begins. Chiloé, whilst a relatively small island, boasts a rich history, local traditions and unique geography. Immerse yourself in the magical maritime culture of this unique island, explore its many fjords and waterways by boat and check out its UNESCO world heritage churches. Tierra Chiloé offers brilliant excursions and day trips, from trekking, biking and horseback riding to boat trips and cultural activities, the perfect way to explore the diversity of the Island.
From here, transfer by boat and land to Puerto Varas, a quaint town on the shores of Lake Llanquihue in the heart of Chile’s southern Lake District. There are numerous activities on offer in the region: trek to your heart's content, enjoy the thrill of white-water rafting and kayak on the calm waters for a gentler way to experience the beautiful scenery.
After three nights in the southern lakes, hit the road again and head north for Pucon and the further adventures that await. This is a fantastic 4-hour drive that takes you through incredible lush and mountainous scenery. Upon arrival, enjoy three nights in this beautiful part of the world. Choose from a plethora of excursions on offer: enjoy white-water rafting and horse-riding, insightful tours around a working hacienda or even lakeside. An additional excursion that is tough but rewarding is a hike up the Villarrica Volcano; stand crater edge and gaze into the bubbling lava below.
Your adventure comes to an end as you’re transferred to Temuco Airport and fly back to Santiago, where you’ll connect with your international flight home. If you wish to explore more of Chile's highlights then the central valleys and vineyards make for a great addition and ideal way to unwind at the end of this itinerary.
