Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit Mexico is typically during the drier, slightly milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins in the south around June and runs until November. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. The wettest months tend to be September and October. The Caribbean coast can be affected by the hurricane season, which officially is from June to November.

Itinerary

Combine Mexico's vibrant culture and mouthwatering cuisine with time unwinding on an idyllic beach, staying at seriously indulgent hotels throughout. Take in the highlights of Mexico City before flying to the Riviera Maya on Mexico's Caribbean coast for some relaxation and pampering at the beautiful Hotel Esencia which works perfectly for both families and couples.

  1. Fly to Mexico City

  2. Days 1-3: Mexico City, Mexico

Start off with three nights in Mexico City and get under the skin of this frenetic capital, exploring colorful markets, sampling delicious traditional cuisne and listening to mariachi bands singing in Plaza Garibaldi. Tickle your tastebuds at one of the many up-and-coming restaurants and admire the country's artistic heritage at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, or simply wander the historical center and soak in the sights and sounds of this vibrant and cosmopolitan capital.  We have included an out-of-hours tour of Frida Kahlo’s famous blue house so you can avoid the crowds and admire her artwork which is dotted throughout her former home, along with some of her iconic outfits and back braces. A historical city tour with stops for street food has also been included.

Discover the city’s ancient history by visiting the Mesoamerican site of Teotihuacan which is approx. 45 mins from the center. Start early and soak in views over the ruins from a hot air balloon as you float across this impressive historical city which is still being excavated, before returning to ground level and enjoying a guided tour.

    Accommodation: Las Alcobas (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-10: Xpu-ha, Riviera Maya, Mexico

Fly to Cancun and travel an hour south along the Riviera Maya to a beautiful, unspoiled beach, Xpu-ha, where you will stay at the sleek Hotel Esencia for six nights. From here you can enjoy snorkeling and diving on the world's second largest coral reef, unwind with some yoga or play a round of golf. The hotel has a beautiful organic spa if you need a little help getting into chill-out mode, too. The property used to be the exclusive beach retreat of an Italian duchess and covers 50 acres with just a handful of rooms and facilities, so you'll find it easy to find a peaceful spot to unwind. If the stunning beach and the watersports aren't enough to keep you entertained, you can easily spend some time exploring inland, visiting the ancient Mayan ruins at Tulum or looking out for manatees in the lagoons of Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.

    Accommodation: Hotel Esencia (6 nights)

  4. Fly home from Cancun

  • After hours Frida Kahlo Museum

  • Teotihuacán From Above & Below

Soak in fantastic bird's eye views of the pyramids of Teotihuacan as you float in your hot air balloon for an unforgettable experience, before exploring on foot with an archaeologist guide, visiting areas of the site still being excavated.
