Stay at some of India’s most exclusive tented camps on a luxury wildlife safari including a dash of India’s wonderful culture and history. Explore Pench National Park, home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, before staying at Jawai Leopard Camp in Rajasthan.

India certainly has the variety of wildlife to rival that of Africa, and now it also has the luxury wildlife camps and lodges to stay in, and we think it makes for a perfect safari vacation. Add in a little of India’s colorful cultural beauty and you simply get the best of both worlds. India boasts an eclectic mix of wildlife, from the well-known tigers and leopards, to langur monkeys, spotted deer, wild dogs and a spell-binding collection of bird life which thrive in India’s deciduous forests and jungles.

Begin by flying to Mumbai, home to the Gateway to India monument, and an ideal first stop before you fly into the heart of India’s ‘tiger country’, to the bamboo and teak-clad Pench National Park. Spend three days at the luxury tented camp, Jamtara, where you can venture out on morning and afternoon game drives. Pench was the inspiration for Kipling’s ‘Jungle Book’, and is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger and many leopards. You can also see a little of the local communities who live in the area, in a part of India that has seen little change in centuries.

Fly to Jodhpur, via Mumbai and your next port of call will be Mihir Garh – a boutique, rural bolt-hole which offers an opportunity to see the fascinating local Bishnoi tribes. If you like to ride, they are one of the best stables in India.

With your private driver, you will be taken to the Jawai Leopard Camp, located mid-way between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Sit back and explore this quiet corner of Rajasthan, hopefully seeing the leopards who thrive in the area.

Finally, put your feet up in Udaipur at the iconic Lake Palace Hotel. Feast on fantastic Indian cuisine, maybe the odd spa treatment or two, or a walking tour in the city with one of our expert guides.
