Botswana is famed for its breath-taking scenery and abundant wildlife and this mobile safari takes advantage of the ever-changing landscape and habitats with varied game viewing as your journey progresses. Each day you will experience different wildlife encounters and varied scenery from cruising along the elephant-rich Chobe Riverfront to tracking cheetah and wild dog in Savute to being poled through the channels of the Okavango Delta on a mokoro safari.
This small group mobile safari operates with a minimum of two and a maximum of six people to ensure an exclusive and highly-personalized experience. The guides are of the highest standards and as a fully-serviced trip there is a full complement of staff including butler service for each tent.
You will begin your safari adventure at Kasane Airport where you will be met by your guide who will be with you for the duration of your safari. You will begin with two nights spent at a secluded and exclusive campsite within Chobe National Park, famous for its impressive elephant population. Here you will go on game drives as well as private boat cruises which allows you to see herds of elephants, on occasion up to several hundred strong, coming to the river to drink and bathe as well as plenty more game besides.
Continue your mobile safari by exploring the Savute region of Chobe with two nights spent here. Savute is famous for large numbers of bull elephants who are attracted by three waterholes and offers impressive predator sightings. The vast open grasslands of the Savute Marsh is the perfect habitat for cheetah, lion and wild dog, making for rewarding game viewing on game drives.
After two nights in Savute you will be flown by light aircraft into the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Game Reserve where your camp will have already been set up on the banks of a seasonal waterway. You will spend two nights here with the chance to explore on game drives as well as taking to the crystal-clear channels of the Delta in a mokoro (traditional dug out canoe). The Moremi Game Reserve is arguably the most famous area of the Okavango Delta with outstanding game viewing on offer. Moremi is considered one of the best spots for wild dog sightings and there is plenty more besides as well as wonderful bird watching.
You bid farewell to your mobile camping experience and are flown by light aircraft to Xudum Delta Lodge (or alternatively Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp) for a final two nights. Xudum Delta Lodge has a wonderful setting and the luxurious accommodation is the perfect contrast to your mobile camping experience. You will spend your time here exploring the heart of the Okavango Delta, staying in a 25,000 hectare private concession. This area of the Delta enjoys year-round water which makes for excellent wildlife viewing. Expect to see elephants, hippos and a variety of antelope as well as predators including lion and leopard. Whilst here you can go on game drives, get out on foot on guided bush walks, explore the waterways on mokoro and boat cruises and between March and December try your hand at fishing. You end your exploration of the Okavango Delta by being flown by light aircraft to Maun, marking the end of your Botswanan safari.
