There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
This perfect introduction to Africa takes in two of South Africa's greatest draws while staying in some of our favourite properties, - enjoy a safari in a private game reserve bordering the Kruger National Park followed by time to explore cosmopolitan Cape Town.
Rise early and explore the Sabi Sands on an early morning game drive. The reserve is famous for its multitude of game, particularly leopard and rhino, which can be seen on day and night game drives. Following your game drive enjoy a delicious breakfast in the bush or back at your lodge. Relax and view game from the comfort of the lodges deck built into the trees above the river. Later today search for wildlife on a late afternoon game drive before enjoying sundowners in the bush. Tonight, you have the option to sleepout under the stars in your very own tree house. Listen for a lion’s roar and the cackling of hyena as you slumber directly beneath the Milky Way.
