Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Fall and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Fall (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.

Itinerary

Including the highlights alongside characterful and off the beaten track villages this journey through Nepal showcases the Himalaya in all its charm and beauty. Visit remote towns and villages followed by a trek through the Annapurna Range having private guides and experiences throughout.

  1. Days 1-3: Kathmandu

Begin in Kathmandu and with two full days to explore we will provide a private guide who will help you discover the hidden gems of this amazing city using interesting walking tours to wander past local markets to get a flavor of Nepalese life. The main Durbar Squares of Kathmandu are intensely interesting, as are too the medieval city of Bhaktapur, the vast Buddhist stupa of Boudnath and the Hindu site at Pashupatinath.

Accommodation: The Inn Patan (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-4: Central Nepal

From Kathmandu you will drive four hours north-west and into the foothills to the town of Nuwakot. Here you will have one night at the Famous Farm, offering a chance to get off the beaten track rather than fly straight to Pokhara as most guests do. Head off on a late afternoon walk through local villages and down to the Durbar Square.

    Accommodation: Famous Farm (1 night)

  3. Days 4-6: Central Nepal

The next stop on your journey is Bandipur which is approximately a four to five hour drive away. This small town has banned vehicles, ensuring it retains its old-world charm and a fantastic place to experience Newari culture. Once an integral stop on the India-Tibet trade routes, it is full of traditional row houses and 18th century architecture providing plenty to see and do. We will take you on a day walk to the Magar village of Ramkot, showcasing local farming methods and stunning views.

Accommodation: Old Inn Bandipur (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-7: Annapurna Region

Next drive onto to the Annapurna Range where you will start your five-night trek in possibly the most beautiful mountain range in Nepal. You will have your own guide and porter, and the lodges are the best you'll find offering hot water, en-suite bathrooms and amazing food. Your first night on the trek will be in the Modi River Valley offering beautiful views of the sacred and unclimbed Fishtail Mountain.

    Accommodation: Sanctuary Lodge (1 night)

  5. Days 7-8: Annapurna Region

On departing Birethanti, you will fully start your epic adventure through the mountains as you venture up towards the village of Ghandruk passing along the way small hamlets, terraced rice fields which give way to lush forests. You should arrive to your lodge around midday where you will be treated to a sumptuous and well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon there is the option for you to explore the stunning surrounding countryside further or simply sit back and take in the magnificent views.

    Accommodation: Himalaya Lodge (1 night)

  6. Days 8-9: Annapurna Region

The trek today leads you south to the small village of Landruk. This area is especially famous for its honey hunters who take great risks climbing up the cliff sides to collect the honey. On arrival in Landruk you will be treated to even more beautiful views of the Annapurna range. Again, arriving at midday you have the choice in the afternoon to relax or venture into the village of Landruk with your guide.

Accommodation: La Bee Lodge (1 night)

  7. Days 9-10: Annapurna Region

Today you will make your way to Majgaun passing small villages and farmland on the way. Your afternoon will be at your leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you wish.

    Accommodation: Gurung Lodge (1 night)

  8. Days 10-11: Annapurna Region

The trek today will take you to the edge of the Annapurna Conservation area, to the village of Dhampus and this will be your last full day on the adventure. Along the way you will have the chance to explore the unspoiled and ancient villages of Patlekhet and Pothana, really experiencing local Nepalese life. The scenery today will also be unique with sub-tropical forests full of tree orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. Like most afternoons along the trek, you will have the chance to either relax or explore the village of Dhampus more fully.

    Accommodation: Basanta Lodge (1 night)

  9. Days 11-13: Pokhara

From Dhampus you will walk to the roadhead and final end point of your trek where you will meet your driver and return to Pokhara for a little R&R. Over the next two nights you can unwind and enjoy the wonderful natural beauty of the city and incredible surrounding views. There are some superb restaurants right on the lake in Pokhara where you can put your feet up with a cold drink, admiring the views.

Accommodation: Temple Tree Resort & Spa (2 nights)

  10. Days 13-14: Dhulikel

From Pokhara you will take a short internal flight back to Kathmandu for a final night in preparation for your international flight to leave Nepal for home or for your next exciting destination.
