The awe inspiring dunes of Sossusvlei are recreated each night as they gently drift across the plains of the Namib. A photographer’s dream and an inspiration to all. Nearby Little Kulala is set in an extensive private reserve where each room enjoys sweeping views of the Namib desert and dunes beyond.

Back to the aircraft to fly to Damaraland, a wilderness of valleys, sculptured hills and rocky river beds. The home to the rare desert elephant and rhino, as well as oryx, kudu and springbok.

Serra Cafema is found in the northern Skeleton Coast near the banks of the Kunene River. Serra Cafema is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature but if you are feeling more energetic there are quad bikes available for an exhilarating few hours ride around the desert and dunes here. There are also Himba tribes living nearby and daily trips along the river.

Onto the Etosha Pans, Namibia’s top wildlife area. Ongava Lodge lies in a private reserve adjoining the park thus providing the best of both worlds - night drives and walks on the reserve as well as daily game drives in the national park.

From there onto Damaraland Camp, located in the Huab River Valley, arguably the most pristine wilderness area in Namibia, 90km from Torra Bay in the Torra Conservancy. Explore the northern Skeleton Coast from Serra Cafema on the banks of the Kunene River. Then visit Ongava Tented Camp is in the Ongave Private Reserve of northern Namibia, close to the Etosha Park. Ongava Game Reserve is on the southern boundary of the Etosha National Park.

When to go

All year round destination, although the best time to visit Namibia is from May to September as the temperature is tolerably cool, especially at night. The optimum game viewing times are between June and November. The land will have dried out meaning animals must again come to waterholes to drink. Summer (November to April) also known as the rainy season is best time to travel to Namibia for bird watching as migratory birds (both intra-African and Palaearctic) flock into the park's many habitats after the summer rains.
