The best time to visit Oman is between November and mid-March, when the cooler air brings the mountain scenery sharply into focus and daytime temperatures average 25°C. For the rest of the year, much of Oman is oppressively hot and hazy, particularly between May and August.
This is a fantastic combination of relaxation and adventure; explore the golden deserts of Oman before moving to the rugged mountains beyond. Dip your toes in the Arabian Sea and fly onto the Maldives for a luxurious finale.
Embark on your first adventure as a married couple as you land in the bustling capital city of Muscat, on the Omani coast. With three nights to unwind and relax, explore the city and enjoy the many shops and restaurants along the boulevards, you certainly won’t be bored. Stroll hand-in-hand past glittering mosques and colourful souqs as you enjoy a half day tour of the city with your private guide and spend a day at sea spotting dolphins and whales in the Gulf of Oman.
Take a drive into the desert with your guide, sightseeing as you go. Stop for a refreshing swim in a cool wadi and explore traditional dhow yards as you make your way to your luxury tented camp in Wahiba Sands. Here you can enjoy dune bashing, camel riding or simply wandering through the dunes and mountain tracks to discover Bedouin tending their livestock. The clear sky of the desert is perfect for star gazing, so why not cuddle up under a blanket and watch the constellations emerge before enjoying a candle lit game of cards.
After a night in the desert you will drive to Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman high in the Hajar Mountains. You’ll have three nights to enjoy the fresh mountain air as you explore sites such as Al Hamra, Jabrin Castle, the UNESCO Bahla Fort and of course the ancient streets and markets of Nizwa itself. Spend the day clambering over boulders and swimming in streama, or enjoy a gentle walk through Omani villages before returning to the hotel to toast the sunset, glass in hand.
Finally, your time in Oman is drawing to a close, with a drive back to Muscat for your final night. We suggest you try the off-road route through Wadi Beni Awf to provide a fitting finale to the adventurous element of your honeymoon. You arrive into Muscat, and you will be able to put your feet up for one last night, before your flight to Male in the morning.
Your last five days will be spent in unparalleled luxury in the beautiful Maldives. With over 30 resorts in the Scott Dunn collection to choose from, speak to your dedicated travel consultant who will be able to find the place that is perfect for you.
