Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort & Spa underwent a vast refurbishment in 2009 bringing this hotel to the fore of Tenerife's top 5 star hotels. The mix of hotel and villa accommodation mean there is something for everyone and the fact that the island can claim sunshine and balmy temperatures for most of the year make this hotel a perfect retreat from cooler climes.
The hotel lies in the shadow of the islands volcano, El Teide, the surrounds of which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is made up of 351 rooms and suites of various standards and 40 luxury villas, that nestle amidst vast gardens with views to either to El Duque beach or the Costa Adeje area. Although it is a busy hotel, the accommodation is spread across 3 areas; the Gran Hotel is traditional in style and offers standard hotel services, Casa Ducales, a smaller more intimate part of the resort located within the grounds has its own dedicated check-in area and provides exclusive concierge & dining services and Las Villas, an exclusive villa collection for the more discerning guest, each with a private pool and 24 hour butler service.
There are a fantastic selection of restaurants to choose from, 8 of which are open to both adults and children. Las Aguas, one of the resort's fine dining options is open to adults only and provides a varied and creative menu based on local and seasonal ingredients. For families, there is a complimentary kids club called the Duqui Club, which is open daily for children aged 3 -12 years. The club provides a fun and varied program in a dedicated and secure area, here children can play supervised by staff qualified and employed by the hotel.
With a superb spa, an abundance of dining options and a plethora of activities from golf to tennis, windsurfing to diving, Bahia del Duque is a fantastic option for couples and families alike.
The resort offers 3 types of accommodation with something to suit all tastes and budgets. Rooms and suites in the main hotel combine Spanish style with traditional Canarian furniture and have views of the Atlantic Ocean or the lush gardens surrounding the hotel. Casa Ducales is situated next to the main hotel with its own reception and lounge; here staff are on hand to give guests a more personalized service with enhanced concierge benefits including breakfast, teatime and an open bar with tapas in the evening. Both the main hotel and Casa Ducales are furnished in a similar traditional style.
For guests that prefer a chic more contemporary design, Las Villas, located opposite the main hotel, comprises a collection of 40 luxury villas of 3 different styles, all equipped with private infinity or plunge pools and designed with exquisite fabrics and soft furnishings. Pool fencing is also available. There is a private lobby, bar area and separate Las Villas pool which is used exclusively for Las Villas guests. Afternoon tea is served daily between 4-6pm and Canapés between 6-9pm. Guests here have access to a 24-hour concierge service and all villas have soft drinks refilled daily, Nespresso machines, Aqua di Palma products, an a’ la carte aromatherapy bath menu and Bang & Olufsen music systems. Las Villas are not suitable for guests requiring self-catering. They have limited kitchen facilities and equipment is for a chef or butler to use if requested.
Deluxe Double Rooms have either a garden or sea view with a choice of king or double beds and either a terrace or balcony. All rooms have free WiFi, Satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, sheet and pillow menu, en-suite bathroom with either a bath or shower. Rooms are 25-30m². Interconnecting rooms are also available on request from a double to double or suite to double. In Casa Descules, rooms also include a butler service, mid-morning Cava, CD player and Aqua di Parma beauty products and a daily newspaper.
Junior Suites have a separate lounge area with either a garden or sea view and a balcony or terrace. All rooms have free WiFi, flat screen satellite TV, sound system, desk, mini-bar, Aqua di Parma beauty products, 2 telephone lines, safe, tea/coffee making facilities, sheet and pillow menu, en-suite bathroom with either a bath or shower. Rooms are 40-45m² In Casa Descules, rooms also include a butler service, mid-morning Cava, CD player and a daily newspaper.
|Main Hotel Family Suites||
Family Suites have a separate lounge with 2 bedrooms and have either a garden or sea view and a balcony or terrace. All rooms have free WiFi, LCD screen satellite TV, CD player, desk, mini-bar, Aqua di Parma beauty products, 2 telephone lines, safe, tea/coffee making facilities, sheet and pillow menu, en-suite bathroom with either a bath or shower. Rooms are 75-85m². There are no family suites in Casa Descules
The suites have one bedroom and a separate lounge with either garden or sea views and a balcony or terrace. All rooms have free WiFi, flat screen satellite TV, CD player, desk, mini-bar, Aqua di Parma beauty products, safe, tea/coffee making facilities, sheet and pillow menu, en-suite bathroom with either a bath and/or shower. Rooms are 50-60m². Casa Descules suites also have a butler service, cava on arrival and a daily newspaper.
|Las Mimosas Villas||
The Mimosas Villas have a main lounge, two bedrooms and direct access to the gardens. Each room offers as its own en suite bathroom equipped with a wide selection of Aqua di Parma products.
Outdoor space includes a deck, gardens with dining area and a private heated pool. 440m²
|Las Palmeras Villas||
Las Palmeras Villas have 1 bedroom and a lounge which all lead to a beautiful terrace, private dining area and infinity pool. The master bedroom features a four-poster bed and very large bathroom with huge bath tub set in basalt stone and ideal for enjoying the aromatherapy bath menu and Aqua di Parma amenities.
The outdoor space includes sun deck, dining area and a superb private heated infinity pool. 202 m²
Las Retamas Villas are two-storey residences which feature a spacious living area and small kitchenette on the ground floor and a four-poster bedroom and magnificent bathroom on the upper floor. The bathroom has a spectacular bathtub set in basalt stone featuring a natural light skylight above.
The outdoor space includes a sun deck, dining area and private infinity pool. 256 m²
The Duqui Club is open daily for children aged 3 -12 years and provided complimentary to all guests. During the day, games and activities are organized by a team of on-site entertainers around the children's pool and babysitting is available on request should you need it. There is a children's menu available in some of the restaurants.
Cuisine plays an important part in the Bahia del Duque experience and the resort has something to suit everyone's tastes. There are a choice of 9 restaurants within the resort, 8 of which are suitable for families with small children. Las Aguas is considered an adult only fine dining establishment, although older children over the age of 10 years are allowed.
Situated in the exclusive Las Villas section of the resort, Las Aguas offers a modern take on Canarian cuisine and prides itself on using a variety of local products. Open to all over the age of 10 years.
With views of La Gomera, El Bernegal is the main restaurant in the hotel and offers a buffet breakfast and dinner service with a nightly theme.
Offering a taste of French cuisine, La Brasserie is located in the central plaza of the
hotel and specializes in local and seasonal fare. The restaurant is led by head chef Pierre Résimont, who has 2 Michelin stars.
Located in the central plaza, La Trattoria offers a taste of little Italy, with a varied menu of fresh pasta, pizza and traditional dishes.
Open all day and serving a variety of Mediterranean cuisine, including seafood, rice and fresh fish.

There are no shortages of things to do at Bahia del Duque. The resort has 5 swimming pools including 2, which are heated and one designated as a children pool. There is also a fantastic Gym with crossfit and a pilates studio, an outstanding Thalassotherapy Spa and for the more active, squash and tennis courts plus the facility to play the latest Spanish craze, paddle tennis. A pitch & putt is available on-site or if water sports are more to your taste choose between diving, stand-up paddleboarding, parasailing, fishing or windsurfing.

Tenerife has a mild year-round climate with an average temperature of 23°C. With its coastal position, there is little or no humidity, and there is very little rain. Temperatures are cooler from December to March.
