In Andalucia there are plenty of warm, sunny days right through winter. The best time to visit Granada is in the Spring and Fall when the temperature is just perfect with warm sunny days. Description

Located in Granada's bustling commercial district, Hospes Palacio de los Patos is a historic and luxurious boutique hotel just a short distance from the Alhambra, one of Spain's most compelling historical sites.

Combing a sugar magnate's 19th-Century palace with a connected futuristic glass counterpart, the Hospes Palacio de los Patos's two buildings provide easy access into Granada.

Located in the heart of the city’s bustling commercial district, the hotel has 42 rooms and suites. Those in the palace have been thoughtfully restored and offer frescoes, original mosaic floors, or high ceilings. The modern building, by contrast, has brand new, purpose built and light filled rooms. Either way, you'll be in Granada's most stylish quarters.

The in-house Bodyna Spa has a range of tempting treatments, as well as a sauna and Turkish bath. You can sample delicious Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine in the sparkling Los Patos Restaurant that ranks as one of the city's best and is very popular with locals.

Granada's most popular attraction is the Alhambra, which is a 20-minute walk from the hotel and well worth a day of exploration. The old town is typically Andaulcian with winding cobbled streets, while the nearby town of Ronda makes a fantastic day trip with its spectacular trio of bridges set over a deep gorge and artistic sensibilities.

This is Granada's best hotel. Comprising a 19th century palace and a much less attractive new building, rooms here are spacious. In the palace, no two are alike. You'll find deluxe rooms on the 2nd floor with immensely high ceiling and junior suites on the third with charming dormer windows and style reminiscent of an artist's garret. As with the other Hospes properties, beds and pillows are super comfortable and staff are eager to help in any way they can.

Granada is full of charming Moorish-style hotels set around pretty courtyards in the Albaicin. But if you want something more la mode, head down busy Calle Recogidas to the Hospes Palacio de los Patos. Away from the tourists but still only 10 minutes from the Cathedral and 15 from Plaza Nueva, this stunning 19th-century mansion looks from the outside like a very grand private residence (which indeed it used to be). But step into the patio, and a dazzlingly contemporary glass-and-alabaster annex sets it off like the Louvre with its pyramid. Inside, it's the same bold mixture. The palacio's gracious marble staircase, trompe l'oeil ceilings, rose windows and tall wooden shutters (all beautifully restored) are the backdrop for some sharp 21st-century styling in the bedrooms (monochrome rugs, funky lighting, designer chaise-longues). In the modern wing, it's so cool, it's almost clinical. Linking it all together is a maze of bright white corridors, while the communal areas are split between the two parts. All in all, its a brave blend of elegant and edgy - and it works.
