Overlooking Mexilhoeira beach and the Atlantic Ocean lies Areias do Seixo, a charming boutique hotel located just 45 minutes north of Lisbon. With log fireplaces, sea views and stylish, comfortable rooms, Areias do Seixo is a peaceful haven which is trendy yet sophisticated.
Taking its inspiration from Scandinavian minimalism, combined perfectly with Turkish and Moroccan influences, guests are drawn in by the rooms at Areias do Seixo, each of which has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All are individually designed, offering style and character thanks to natural, repurposed materials and fabrics. The majority of rooms offer uninterrupted sea views, and a terrace for complete privacy.
Alongside the main building, Areias do Seixo has a handful of three-bedroom villas and townhouses, providing a large living room, kitchen and private pools on each terrace. These residences offer a tranquil space for families or larger groups to enjoy each other's company with a sense of privacy and seclusion.
The restaurant at Areias do Seixo is eco-friendly and sustainable with a focus on having a low environmental impact. Using local ingredients, the restaurant produces contemporary Portuguese meals that are fresh and organic. With herbs and vegetables from the hotel garden, and fish caught in the nearby Atlantic Ocean, it doesn't get any fresher than this!
For those looking to relax, Areias do Seixo's spa is the perfect location. Hidden away, peace and tranquillity await here thanks to the rejuvenating treatments on offer. Choose between aromatherapy, phytotherapy or Ayurvedic massage, and unwind in the Turkish bath. Alternatively, start the day with a yoga class followed by a dip in the outdoor pool.
Each of the hotel's fourteen rooms has a stunning and individual design with a focus on Scandinavian inspired minimalism combined with Turkish and Moroccan flourishes. The hotel's natural ethos is evident in beautifully designed driftwood furniture which is complemented by cosy fabrics and antique fittings. All rooms but one share a view of the sea and the dunes, and feature a private patio or deck, a wood burning stove or fireplace. It is worth noting that none of the rooms come with a TV - if you want one you will need to request this on booking.
Across the road from the main building the hotel also has six three-bedroom villas and two three-bedroom townhouses, all of which are split over several floors with large living rooms, private outdoor pools and barbecue areas.
The restaurant at Areias do Seixo prides itself on its sustainable, eco-friendly approach to cuisine. Using local produce, herbs from the garden and fresh fish from the nearby market, the restaurant produces typically Portuguese dishes with a contemporary twist. Inspired by the more simple cuisine of the 40s, 50s and 60s, the menu focuses on flavor and often changes according to the fresh produce available.
The spa at Areias do Seixo is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. Here you will find a Turkish bath, sauna, treatment rooms and outdoor pool. A variety of treatments are on offer, including Ayurvedic massage and aromatherapy, using natural products.
