Villa F dates from the 16th century when it served as a country retreat for a noble Venetian family. Back then the island of Guidecca was the place where fresh produce was grown to send to the city, hence the countryside tag. Nowadays the island still retains an air of calm, tranquillity and greenness you wont find across the lagoon amongst Venice's tiny streets.
That said you can reach the pier at Bauer il Palazzo, around the corner from St. Mark's Square by a nippy 4 minute water taxi from Villa F's pier. So despite its seeming distance from the city in the past, the location of Villa F now serves as its unique appeal giving guests space, 3 acres of gardens and a glorious meditation pool - the perfect ticket to unwind after a day's sightseeing. Add to that the proximity to the superb spa at sister hotel Bauer il Palladio next door and Villa F really does have it all.

When to go
Venice is a city that can be enjoyed at all times of the year. The months from Easter to October are the main tourist season when hotels can be difficult to come by at short notice. The other two really popular spells are during the Carnival in February (the 10 days up to Shrove Tuesday) and the weeks on each side of Christmas.
Summer (mid July to the end of August) isn't necessarily the best time to go to Venice. Apart from the hordes of tourists, the air can be humid and unpleasant. The climate will often result in clouds of mosquitoes and other insects invading the lagoon, and the smell emanating from the water can be very unpleasant. Italians vacation in August, so many shops and restaurants close during this time.
If you're planning to visit Venice between October and late February, take your wellies just in case! This is the season of floods - known locally as acqua alta, and occasional downpours can be heavy. The low-lying Piazza San Marco is especially vulnerable.
Clear blue skies and balmy weather make spring and autumn the best times to go.
