The Banfi estate is one of the largest wine producers in Tuscany, and the vineyards surrounding the castle produce prestigious 'Brunello di Montalcino' wines.
Located in a commanding hilltop position with spectacular views over the Tuscan countryside, the rooms of the hotel are spread through the buildings of the 18th century hamlet that nestles under the walls of the medieval castle. Set on a 7,100 acre estate, the former workers' quarters attached to the castle have been stylishly adorned with classic Tuscan furniture, fabrics and finery, wonderfully-appointed against the original features of terracotta floors, arches and wood-beamed ceilings.
Guests can enjoy a glass of Banfi's finest wine by the outdoor pool, overlooking the vineyards and for dinner, visit the estate's restaurants, 'La Sala dei Grappoli', located in the vaulted cellars which serves delicious traditional Tuscan cuisines and offers a superb wine list. In addition, wines and regional produce can be enjoyed in the on-site Enoteca-Wine Bar.
Castello Banfi offers 14 rooms and suites, varying in size, location and décor, all with carefully selected furnishings and fabrics, classic fixtures and luxuriant amenities. Each offers a King-sized bed, while the five designated suites are additionally furnished with a Queen-size sofa bed in a separate room. The beds in three of the rooms and one of the suites can be separated to Twin beds.
The hotel consists of Two 'Reserva' Deluxe Rooms, seven Junior Suites, Three 'Classic' Suites, one 'Reserva' Suite and the 'Poggio all’ Oro' Suite.
Each of the 14 room and suites at Castello Banfi is well equipped with flat screen television featuring international satellite programming and radio with a selection of jazz, classical and contemporary music; high-speed internet connection, direct telephone lines, safe, and a selection of complementary estate wines as well as a well-stocked mini bar with water, beverages, and light snacks. Well-equipped bathrooms feature professional hair driers, towel warmers, large showers with oversized rainfall heads; several have an additional bathtub, and bath amenities include bath foam, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion made from Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate. Each spacious room is painted and furnished in a different color scheme and appointed with eclectic themed artwork; several include a separate dressing area, writing desk and breakfast table.

In the comfort of about 42 square meters, the Deluxe Room Riserva, with its ample Italian King Size bed (79 x 79 in.), is furnished in the refined style of the Tuscan countryside and benefits from vineyard views.
Set within a charming and spacious area of between 55 and 65 sqm, the seven Junior Suites include an Italian King size bed and offer fantastic views of Borgo and the vineyards.
Extremely comfortable suites measuring either 67 sqm or 76 sqm. Suites offer a King size bed (79 x 79 in.) and a small living room furnished with a comfortable sofa bed. The bathroom includes a spacious waterfall shower. Views from these suites are over the Tuscan countryside. Every room includes complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen LCD television, and honor bar.
A splendid apartment of 82 square meters, including a spacious bedroom with an Italian King-sized mattress (79 x 79 inches) and an ample sitting room equipped with a comfortable sofa bed. The warm atmosphere, furnished with the finest fabric and materials, also features two bathrooms, each with an a waterfall shower. Its windows open up to stunning views of the vineyards and surrounding Tuscan countryside. The rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen LCD television, and honor bar.

Spacious and resplendent at an impressive 110 sq meters, divided between a bedroom, a comfortable sitting area, and separate living room, a separate environment with a luxuriant sofa bed. The grand space with an Italian King size bed (79 x 79 in.) leads directly into the main bathroom, furnished with bath tub and separate, spacious waterfall shower. The second bathroom, with spacious waterfall shower, is accessed from the private living room. The entire area enjoys light filled windows looking out onto the tranquil Tuscan countryside. The suite includes complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen LCD television, and honor bar.
Poggio all’Oro is the world’s only suite with its own private wine cellar, containing rare and otherwise impossible to find vintages of the three Brunello di Montalcinos crafted on the Castello Banfi estate. From the most “classic” Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino produced for the first time in 1978, to the cru Poggio alle Mura, and the single vineyard Riserva Poggio all’Oro.
Children are welcome and under 12s stay free on a bed and breakfast basis when sharing parents' room or suite.

Castello Banfi offers cookery classes and wine tastings on site. All guests of Castello Banfi are welcome to visit the winery on a complimentary basis. A daily tour is organized.
Castello Banfi is the sponsor of the Jazz & Wine festivals held in Montalcino each summer and winter, with concerts in town as well as on the estate. Special concerts of Classical Music and Opera are also planned.
Hiking and cycling itineraries on the estate and its surroundings can also be arranged, as well as scenic tours of nearby towns and places of interest including Montalcino, Florence, Siena, Chianti, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Pienza, Arezzo, and Assisi.
Location & Directions
In the southwest corner of the Brunello di Montalcino vineyard growing area, Castello Banfi is located 16 kilometers west of the small city of Montalcino (about 12 minutes by car), 70 kilometers south of Siena, 130 kilometers south of Florence, and 250 kilometers north of Rome.
When to go
May to September are fantastic months to visit, when the weather is generally warm and dry - a typical Mediterranean climate. April and November are cooler and also good times to visit.
