When to go
Sicily enjoys a blissful Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm springs and autumns. Even February, the coolest month, has average temperatures of 13°C, which means that any time of year is suitable.
If you want to go sightseeing around the island’s legendary historic and natural sites, October–November and March–June is reliably warm, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 26°C. July and August are blessed with glorious sunshine, and average temperatures of around 28°C.
August is peak tourist season, many businesses close for two or three weeks. This is when most Italians go on vacation, about 70% of the population takes their vacation at the same time, therefore hardly any work gets done in Italy during that period and beaches can be extremely crowded.
