Built by the Aga Khan, the Cala di Volpe is a grown up playground and the place to be seen on the Costa Smeralda. It is one of the most glamorous hotels on the island, the pinnacle of which is its own private beach accessible by boat or a 15 minute stroll along a path. A favorite amongst celebrities and the glitterati, even James Bond stayed here in The Spy Who Loved Me and the summer is filled with big name concerts. It is perfectly set on the waterfront in Porto Cervo, overlooking the beautiful coastline and super yacht filled bay with a private jetty stretching out into the water.

Designed to resemble a traditional Sardinian fishing village, it is beautifully styled and furnished with custom made pieces by local artisans, Missoni fabrics and original artwork everywhere. The rooms and suites here are all individually styled with balconies and patios overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean or surrounding landscape. Guests are looked after by attentive staff and nothing is too much trouble. Even dining is a glamorous affair. Enjoy a candlelit supper at the Cala di Volpe Restaurant or relax with a cooling drink at the Bar La Piazzetta. The Pontile Piano Bar and the Lobby Bar both boast panoramic views of Cala di Volpe bay, whilst the Barbecue serves delicious grills of fresh Sardinian seafood.

Guests can while away the days on the beach, or enjoy the Olympic sized saltwater swimming pool, three tennis courts or the nearby Pevero Golf Club. Watersports include kayaking, waterskiing and sailing, and the concierge can help arrange most other activities. The Spa and beauty center both provide a range of treatments and therapies offering up a tempting list of massages.


Elegantly designed, each of the 121 rooms and suites invoke the natural beauty of the landscape and are inspired by the traditional fishing heritage of Sardinia. Furnished with local Cerasarda ceramics, they feel airy and luxurious. All rooms have a balcony or terrace and are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, Bang & Olufsen televisions, DVDs and internet access.

Classic Double Room

All 20m² Classic Double rooms are Mediterranean in style and have private balconies with either a partial sea or garden view and shower only bathrooms.

Superior Double Room

Larger than the Classic Double rooms with a total space of 22m², the Superior Double rooms have a private balcony and all enjoy sea views.

Premium Double Room

With lavish sea views, these beautifully appointed rooms measure 25m², and each have a private terrace. Bathrooms have showers only.

Deluxe Suites

With wide open views over the Mediterranean, the Deluxe Suites are light and airy inside and adorned with Sardinian textiles and furnishings. They measure 40m² and have a private balcony or terrace and can have either a garden or partial sea view.

Premium Suites

Furnished with traditional Sardinian crafts and artwork, the Premium Suites feature a separate seating room and have a large adjoining terrace with glorious views over the Mediterranean.

Presidential Suite

With 3 bedrooms and private rooftop terrace, solarium, luxurious swimming pool and fitness center, the Presidential Suite is one of the most elegant residences on the Costa Smeralda coast.


Children aged 3-12 years can become the next Picasso in Cala di Volpe's Toy Club. An open air recreational space where little ones can paint, draw or play sports. Cots and high chairs are available on request in all restaurants, but the Barbecue poolside restaurant with its less formal atmosphere offers the best family experience with a combination of barbecue fish and meats, complemented by an extensive buffet.

Toy Club (3-12yrs)

The club is open from 10am to 6:30pm and 7:45pm to 11pm. All children are supervised by Italian speaking professional staff, employed by the hotel. Evening activities are organized by the Hotel during the high season, however group activities during the evening can be organized anytime upon request.

There are a number of dining and refreshment options at the hotel, from the rustic al fresco Barbecue poolside restaurant and the Lobby Bar, famed for its Bellini's, to the iconic Cala di Volpe restaurant designed by Jacque Couelle. For wine lovers, La Cave has over 400 bottles of the World's finest wines to sample, whilst the elegant Il Pontile bar is the place to enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail with the most exhilarating of views. Guests booked on full board can experience other dining options in Porto Cervo as part of the Dine Around Programme at the Pitrizza, Cervo and Romazzino Hotels.

Cala di Volpe Restaurant

Overlooking the bay, harbor and gardens, the Cala di Volpe restaurant has the most romantic setting in which to enjoy both traditional Sardinian and Mediterranean cuisine. Inspired by local recipes, the menus created by the hotels' Executive Chef will thrill and tantalise your taste buds.

Barbecue Restaurant

Set by the poolside the Barbecue restaurant is the perfect spot for an informal lunch. Choose from a range of traditional sweet and savory delights served from the Mediterranean buffet.

La Cave

With a collection of over 400 wines from the finest cellars around the world, guests can experience a private wine tasting session or ask the Sommelier to pair the perfect wine with dinner.

Il Pontile bar

Relax with an aperitif or sparkling cocktail at the Il Pontile bar, which is open 8pm until late. With breathtaking views over the bay and live piano music every night, this is the place to soak up the Porto Cervo atmosphere.

La Piazzetta

Overlooking the pool, La Piazzetta bar is the ideal spot to start your evening with a poolside cocktail or to sample locals canapés of olives and Sardinian ham.


Tennis lovers can improve their game on one of the three courts on site, whilst the more adventurous might like to try the water skiing, which can be arranged by the concierge. The Pevero Golf Club is a short distance drive away and has the reputation of being one of the best 18 hole courses in the world.


Cala di Volpe boasts the largest outdoor seawater pool in Europe, and for those that prefer the real thing the ocean is just a few steps away. For a day relaxing on the beach, the hotels boat can take you to a private beach just a 5-minute ride away.The fitness center is fully equipped with state of the art machines, but for guests who prefer to exercise in the open air there is also the option to take rent a bicycle to explore the local area.

A boutique, hairdressers and beauty salon can be found within the hotel grounds but for a more extensive choice, Port Cervo village is just 10 minutes away by car.

The hotel provides 24 room, concierge and laundry service plus private parking if needed. Wi-Fi internet is available in all public areas.

When to go

Sardinia enjoys a warm and dry Mediterranean climate from May through to September and is renowned for the glorious weather and warm seas that bask the island for six months each year. July and August offer the best opportunities for beach lovers, when the sea temperatures average 28C. With an average of 10 hours of sunshine from May to September, Sardinia is the perfect summer season destination.
