In the heart of the Italian Dolomites, Pine Lodge Dolomites is the first full-service luxury chalet of its kind in Selva Gardena. Set in the South Tyrol, amidst the Sassolungo, Puez and the Sella Massif mountains, it enjoys a prime south facing position, with views over the village and the ski-lifts just 300 meters away. The vision of British interior designer Susanna Scott and her Italian husband, Georg Planker, a successful hotelier, they have combined their experience and skills into creating a truly stunning chalet with exceptional service. Custom built, Pine Lodge mixes contemporary design with traditional wood carving and carpentry, typical of Val Gardena.
Guests are greeted by Susanna on arrival and looked after seamlessly by her professional, attentive and discrete team. Together with the butler, she'll show you around the chalet and before dinner introduces you to the chalet services and the ski area. She is often also on hand to drive guests to the lifts and to make sure everyone has everything they need. The butler takes care of the breakfasts and in the afternoon is on duty from whatever time guests require. As the butler is from the local village, he also has a lot of local knowledge which guests find very useful. Each day begins with a hearty buffet breakfast with a cooked choice, and ends with pre-dinner drinks and a delicious four course dinner in the evening, with the chef able to cater for any dietary requirements.
The modern design of the spacious Pine Lodge has the living area on the first floor, making the most of the fabulous views. The chalet accommodates up to eight guests in four beautifully furnished bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and have access to the garden and terrace. The open plan living and dining area has a central log fire and floor to ceiling windows, opening up onto the terrace, providing unobstructed views of the breathtaking scenery. The chalet features a professional kitchen, a bar, an in-home cinema with PlayStation 4 and children's games, a small gym, a ski and boot room, and a garage that can house three cars and three outdoor parking spaces. There is free WiFi throughout. Guests looking to unwind after a long day on the slopes or hiking can choose between a Finnish, Bio Sauna, or Infrared, or relax in the outdoor hot tub or pool, whilst in-room massages and a selection of treatments are on offer from the Lodge's own therapists.
Selva Gardena is at the head of the Val Gardena, in the heart of the Dolomites, an area designated an UNESCO World Heritage site. Part of the stunningly beautiful Dolomiti Superski with over 1220km of pistes, the famous Sella Ronda runs through the village, whilst the region boasts a fantastic snow record. A modern lift infrastructure ensures rapid access to the slopes, where there is enough variety to keep beginners through to experts happy for well more than a week. The area is famed for its great value mountain restaurants, serving some of the finest food you'll find anywhere. And like everywhere in Italy, children are especially welcomed.
On the ground floor there are four comfortable suites all with en-suite bathrooms (two with bath and shower and two with just a shower), with the Master Bedroom being considerably larger than the three others. Each room has been furnished with a totally different style and color scheme, and all are equipped with Satellite flatscreen TV with internet radio, WiFi internet, plus hairdryer and safe. Pine Lodge Dolomites provides a fully catered chalet service, with breakfast and dinner. The staff are attentive, yet discrete, and guests can choose whether to have the butler on hand when they arrive home from the slopes for afternoon tea, or to have the chalet to themselves. The chalet operates an honesty bar where guests are asked to sign for extra drinks. At the beginning of your stay, or from day to day, Susanna and her team agree with you what time you'd like to eat. They aim to leave guests as much privacy as possible, so between 12 o’clock and the agreed time in the afternoon there are no staff in the chalet. The butler usually arrives about two hours before dinner, and after dinner the staff stay for as long as is necessary.
Dinner is served for six days during the week, and on the chef's night off, there is a fabulous choice of restaurants and pizzerie within walking distance in the village. For some added adventure, the team can arrange quad bike or a snowcat ride to a mountain hut for dinner.
A dedicated driver service is available to take guests to and from the slopes (Danterceppies and Campinoi lifts)
