Average time to visit

Mykonos is a summer destination, and hotels only operate between late April to late October. On average, the warmest months of the year are July and August, when the beaches and towns are more crowded with other visitors. June and September are good months to visit, when the island is quieter but temperatures are still high.

Insider's View

Absolutely ask for seafood at lunch or dinner - cooked beautifully and generally caught that very morning.

Casa del Mar Mykonos Seaside Resort houses a handful of beautifully decorated and spacious villas ranging from two to three bedrooms. All have huge terraces overlooking the beautiful cove of Glyfadi, and some boast a pool or Jacuzzi.

Tucked away on the peninsula of Aleomandra overlooking Glyfadi Cove, Casa del Mar Mykonos is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun on this beautiful island.

The villas are decorated in traditional Cycladic Island style; whitewashed walls and cool interiors splashed with color. Each of the eleven villas has ample space and large terraces overlooking the bright blue sea. Some of the villas boast private seawater pools while others have a Jacuzzi, and the sea below is less than a minute's walk away.

At Casa del Mar Mykonos you can enjoy the most delicious and authentic Greek food. The fish and amazing seafood comes in fresh from the sea each morning, and you have a private service for food and drinks in your villa, on your terrace or down by the beach. It's also possible to take a self-catered villa - if you would prefer to do this on all or some of the days, car rental is advised as the nearest supermarket is a 10-15 minute drive away.

There is an elegant spa with a pool, a Jacuzzi, Hammam and treatment rooms as well as a gym, and there is a private area on the beach exclusively for villa guests. Glyfadi Cove is set between the more well known Ornos Beach and Aigos Ioannis and is 2 miles from Mykonos Town so there is plenty within easy reach to keep you entertained - if you can bear to leave the peace and quiet!

Casa del Mar is not quite a hotel and not quite private villas. To me it felt like a collection of small private apartments located on a peaceful bay a world away from the madness of Mykonos. There are two bed suites with pools and 3 bed suites with big terraces many of which can be combined together for larger group. There is a small number of staff on hand to look after you but it doesnt feel like a fully operational hotel and is therefore better for more independent people looking for peace and relaxation away and great swimming in an almost private bay and one of the few serviced beaches in Mykonos without music. Food is great and served either in your suite on the terrace or in the small restaurant overlooking the water. The hotel is about 20 minutes from Mykonos Town and independent guests will want a car to avoid paying for taxis or transfers in and out of town.

The hotel is such a good option for those looking for both a fun and relaxing vacation. You can be as wild as you like in Mykonos but few places have the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of Casa del Mar. The food is absolutely delicious and it's so nice to be able to eat in your villa or on the terrace and not have to lift a finger!

The sea is absolutely incredible and the beach is very natural and unpolished. Because of where the hotel is located and the beach is out of the way of the main part of the island it doesn't get busy so it feels really private.

It is a good idea to hire a car as taxis are a nightmare on the island being so few, and although the hotel can organize transfers it's good to have a bit more flexibility and freedom to explore the island.
