The climate in Greece is warm and sunny for the majority of the year with the risk of the odd shower of rain and some cooler periods over the winter. From April/May onwards the weather settles but it can sometimes be cool in the evenings. By mid/end of May, the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. Good weather continues into October, making it a good option for late season too.

On its own sandy beach on the unspoiled Aegean coast, Eagles Palace is an intimate and charming hotel with traditional Greek hospitality. Ideal for younger children, there is a fantastic Explorers kids club and our popular Aqua watersports program.
Eagles Palace is an unpretentious, traditional family run hotel forming part of Eagles Resort, near Ouranoupolis on the Halkidiki Peninsula. Eagles Palace Hotel and Eagles Villas offer a fantastic combination of luxury hotel and villa accommodation, which is particularly suitable for families. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, it's known for its friendly service and authentic hospitality, but its crowning glory is its location. Set right on a long sandy beach and with a well-established watersports center, it is the ideal place for those looking for a relaxing, water-based family vacation. Eagles Palace offers traditional hotel accommodation, whilst Eagles Villas located in the hills just behind the main hotel, feature a stunning collection of 40 independent villas, all with private pools, stunning views over Ammouliani Island and two separate restaurants.
The focus at Eagles Palace is most definitely the beach and the water. The sand is golden and slopes gently down to shallow waters - making it perfect for younger children and babies. The water is crystal clear and it's easy to see schools of fish from the jetty, all of which has earned it Blue Flag status. The watersports center has a good range of equipment, including Quba dinghies, a Hobie Cat, windsurfs, kayaks and paddle boards and offers private tuition. Guests can charter their own motorboat to explore the surrounding coastline and beaches, or even a skippered yacht, whilst the resort's dive center offers PADI courses and trips out into the waters surrounding Halkidiki, which are teeming with aquatic life.
Guests who prefer to relax on the beach can order food and drink just by pressing a button on their parasol. Next to the beach is a large heated swimming pool and a separate children’s pool, both surrounded by neat Mediterranean gardens. From everywhere in the resort, there are dramatic views over the beautiful Sigiticos Gulf and the World Heritage Site of Mt Athos. The more adventurous can join one of the tailor made excursions to explore the surrounding scenery, either mountain biking, hiking or sea kayaking to the nearby island of Ammouliani. The gentle beach and calm breezes create the perfect conditions for children to gain confidence in the water and learn to sail, windsurf, kayak or paddle board.
There is an Explorers kids club for children aged from 4 months to 11 years, offering dedicated, age themed activities, managed by Scott Dunn qualified childcare experts and supported by local childcarers. The club is also running Aqua Explorers, a specially designed 3 hours a day, 6 day watersports program for children from 5 to 13, introducing them to the basics of sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding, wake boarding, waterskiing and diving, under the guidance of qualified instructors. Aimed at children with little or no experience of watersports, this program will build their confidence on the water and give them the opportunity to learn practical skills as well as some important theory. At the end of the week, there’s a Regatta, which your children can take part in some short and fun races, and maybe win some prizes at the end.
The accommodation at Eagles Palace is contemporary in style and comfortable, having undergone an extensive refurbishment. Bolger Family - September 2018 (Guest)
Great location, lovely beach, friendly staff, brilliant fun aqua club and babysitting with trustworthy reliable people.
Kids loved aqua explorers. Jack has been fantastic, great fun and full of great games. Kids have loved learning with him. SCUBA teacher is brilliant, water sports team friendly and helpful.
Maguire Family - June 2018 (Guest)
Perfection - everything is spot on - staff, rooms, foods, beach, water sports.
Eyles Family - August 2018 (Guest)
Rick in the aqua sports club was excellent. Very knowledgeable and experienced and managed all the children well. A real attribute to Scott Dunn. Also the watersports managers/ instructors on the beach very helpful and friendly.
DeSouza Family - July 2018 (Guest)
With such great and convenient childcare we got to take advantage of two wonderful restaurants, Kamares and Eleonas. A treat for my husband and I. The Greek wines and fabulous food selections also this year are excellent.
Really seamless service and very friendly, really enjoyed ourselves. Top notch guest relations from odd requests (odd sized flip flops) to superb kids club, our kids prefer their company to ours!
Williams Family - July 2018 (Guest)
The hotel and service provided has been excellent. Theo adored Explorers.
Petrovic Family - July 2018 (Guest)
It has been an absolutely wonderful vacation. Traveling with a young baby of 4 months could have been difficult and
stressful but we have been provided with every convenience and it has proved to be very enjoyable. The boys (6 and 12) have loved the resort and all the amenities. And the parents (ages withheld... ) have particularly enjoyed the Greek wines on offer.
Fantastic hotel with beautiful facilities and charming staff at every level. The beach and pool areas are wonderful.
Bisztyga Family - August 2018 (Guest)
Outstanding hotel property, excellent service, probably best hotel beach in Europe
Excellent childcare and service. Aqua explorers was a great way for our kids to experience water sports for the first time.
Sarah Matthews (Staff)
I didn't have my own little ones or other half with me when I visited but I could picture exactly how we would all spend a vacation here. The resort is so well arranged, everything is close to hand but with enough space and choice to keep you happy for weeks! They have live entertainment every night and movie nights for the kids. The childcare here is really unique due to the water activities on offer and it would make great first beach experience for a baby - such soft sand! The look and feel of Eagles Palace is really Greek, as opposed to some other options in Halkidiki which are more International and I really liked that about it. The Villas are newer and more contemporary in their build.
Claire Walker (Staff)
I loved the family friendly intimate feel of Eagles Palace, from the moment you arrive you will feel at home with the friendly staff and welcoming surroundings.
It offers incredible views across the water from the long sandy beach which runs the whole length of the resort to the main restaurant and bar area where you can enjoy a signature cocktail. The 4 restaurants are all different but offer an excellent level of food and service, the main hotel restaurant has an array of traditional Greek food which you can enjoy with a bottle of wine. Whilst the Armrya on the beach is the perfect spot for some shade at lunch. The Asian restaurant looks right across the pool area with the sea in the distance and offers a great outdoor dining experience. With the rustling sound of bamboo you can choose a selection of small traditional Asian plates to try and share. Last but by absolutely no means least you must visit the Armrya in the evening- dine on the beach with amazing views and enjoy the BBQ cooked food, from fresh fish to lamp cutlets the food is exquisite!
For the day time the extensive water sports offered from the "beach shacks" to the right of the beach are just great, with excellent instructors you are guaranteed an afternoon or morning of fun! Whilst for the children there is the Scott Dunn Exclusive water sports program for children aged 5-13 years, meeting at the children's club on the beach every Tuesday they will get a taster of the great water sports, with a morning and afternoon session they can enjoy all Eagles Palace has to offer. In between they can relax or why not sign them up to the children's club on the beach where they will have great fun with sand between their toes!
For the younger ones the bright and beautiful children's club is perfect, a wonderful indoor area with so many toys offers retreat from the sun combined with the shady outdoor area it is perfect.
I would highly recommend the bungalows, private pools and access to the beach combined with a great spacious indoor space makes them perfect for couples and families a like.
A really great hotel where you will feel totally relaxed, defiantly worth a visit.
Lucy Hunt (Staff)
Eagles Palace is a boutique hotel hidden in the second peninsular right on the water front. The hotel has been run by the same family for 41 years and offers a peaceful, welcoming environment for guests in a stunning location.
There are a number of room categories available, from the rooms and suites in the main hotel to the beautiful bungalows in their own private area nearby. Some of the suites and bungalows come with their own private pool however there is also a large main pool with an adjacent childrens pool located within the grounds. There are more sun loungers on the beach and at the pool area than guests at the hotel so you will never by fighting for space.
Eagles Palace homes four spectacular restaurants, all offering different cuisines. Melathron, the main restaurant is open for breakfast and has a daily changing buffet menu in the evening. Kamares is the hotel's fine dining restaurant with an emphasis on Greek cuisine. Washi is the Japanese restaurant with Asian infusion plates. Located down by the beach is Armyra which offers freshly caught fish daily. In addition the hotel also homes its own beach and pool bars.
The beach has one the 'Blue Flag'' status with golden sand and crystal clear water.Available at the beach is an extensive watersports program offering all facilities from kayaking to Scuba diving.
Alice Peal (Staff)
Eagles Palace is a wonderful family run hotel giving it an unpretentious yet exclusive feel throughout. It is the perfect size to give you plenty of space and choice of facilities, but small enough to give an intimate atmosphere. The main restaurant offers a wealth of food options at the Breakfast and Evening Meal buffet, but the other restaurants are definitely worth exploring too. Washi (Eagle in Japanese) is an amazing Asian and international Tapas restaurant with a huge choice of little tasters from all the over the world so is guaranteed to please everyone. Kamares is a fine dining restaurant with a terrace offering incredible views along the beach and across the sea the chef can prepare extremely impressive menus here for you. Armyra is set on the beach and makes for a luxurious meal destination for lunch or dinner with fresh fish available, alternatively, for a more relaxed lunch, the beach bar offers drinks and snacks during the day. The beach is a great size and beautiful with fine sand and clear waters, the sun beds come equipped with a beach towel and buzzer so you can have drinks and snacks delivered directly to you. For a real treat, the swim-up Champagne Pool bar is definitely worth a visit.
The Watersports Programme for Children is a fantastic option for the more active and older children, its a 6 day course offering a taster in numerous different water activities from Sailing, Waterskiing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and more - this is run by our Qualified Watersports Instructor Daniel, who adds a child-friendly twist to everything, his signature is Kayaking to a treasure hunt on a nearby beach. The Explorers Club offers a great alternative for littler ones in The Nest, an amazingly equipped and cool playroom with sleep room for under 5's, but older children can still have a fun filled day in The Shack down by the beach. Adults don't need to feel left out though as there is plenty of watersports available to try yourselves. The resort isnt overrun with sports facilities in order to keep the intimate feel, but there is a tennis court, gorgeous spa and plenty of places to explore outside of the hotel - from Ammoulani Island, to Ouranoupolis and Mount Athos, but the beach is truly fantastic, you don't really need anything else!
It is certainly worth trying to book into a Suite or Bungalow purely for the extra space, views and luxury touches, or the Presidential Suite for something super special - it has a large private pool on the large terrace and wide stretching views. With the planned Eagles Villas for summer 2017, there will be even more luxurious options available.
Hannah Fullagar (Staff)
The traditional style of Eagles Palace is incredibly welcoming. Greeted by friendly staff on arrival, the family run aspect of the hotel seems to shine through in personal touches. Despite an ultimately laid back feel, the luxury of the property is in no way sacrificed. Regular refurbishments have left the rooms and suites in a fantastic condition with simple yet stylish dcor, and the age of the hotel is shown elsewhere in the grounds with fantastically developed gardens.
The real main focus of Eagles Palace has to be the gorgeous long sandy beach that runs the length of the hotel. With soft white sand and crystal clear waters it is the perfect setting for a relaxing day, and with food and drink served to your sun bed at the touch of a button you really dont have to lift a finger. However, if an active vacation is more your style, the on site water sports center has a fantastic range of activities on offer from stand up paddle boarding and kayaking, to jet skiing and Scuba-diving.
The Aqua Explorers program is a great introduction to water sports for your children, and perfect for families who are not so keen on a traditional kids club set up. Throughout the week the children get to try their hand at a range of water sports, building confidence on the water and learning lots of new skills. You can relax on your sun bed and watch from a distance as your little ones kayak past you, bringing back treasure from a nearby beach. You might have a little trouble tearing them away from the water at the end of the week!
Eagles Palace is a great family friendly hotel, with plenty to offer guests of every age. I really could not fault the service from any department, and would gladly return there year after year.
