With stunning views across the Aegean, Amirandes has some great restaurants. Their Taverna in ranked in the top 34 in Greece for traditional Greek food. The pool area is wonderful offering some lovely sun beds under the pergola. Entertainment for the children is in their amphitheater, with shows three times a week including a mini disco for the little ones. They offer their own basic childcare facilities for children aged three and older. A spa, gym and a wide range of accommodation types makes it a perfect family setting.

Set in an idyllic location right on the seafront, the Amirandes Hotel has an enormous amount of space on the beach and in the gardens, without feeling overwhelmingly large. The view once you walk in the front door offers a real WOW factor impact from the beginning of your stay. It offers you the 5* service you can expect from a Grecotel with a great choice of restaurants including their Cretan restaurant, ranked one of the top Greek restaurants throughout Greece.
The Childrens Club is complimentary so would work well for a bit of supervision as and when it suits you, but the pool and grounds are large enough for the children to run around and be entertained. When it comes to room types, I would certainly opt for a seaview room as the view is certainly worth the extra money, but also the suites and villas offer a lot more space, a little more luxury and the unique 'Pillow Menu' to guarantee you a good night's sleep.

Before even stepping through the front door of Amirandes, the entrance sets the scene completely. The calming, fresh dcor runs through the resort and out onto the white sandy beach, leaving a feeling of incredible tranquillity. The accommodation is all very well thought out, with a good balance of practicality and luxury particularly in the villas which also offer that extra bit of privacy, and exclusive touches such as private pools and dedicated shaded loungers on the beach. The range of restaurants provide opportunity for fantastic dining experiences, particularly if you manage to book a table on the floating platform of Lago di Candia, the lagoon restaurant. Look out for the brightly colored animals surrounding the villas; a fun touch for the children.

A wonderful large resort with some amazing facilities right on the beach front. The beach front villas are in an amazing location and perfect for families. The Olympic sized swimming pool is impressive and there are lots of different dining options available.

Amirandes really is a tranquil water paradise, where lagoon meets the sea, on arrival your eye is immediately lead through the resort to the sea view. The Cretan elements of water, fire and earth are the hallmarks of the resort. Amirandes pride themselves on their impeccable service and attention to detail which can be seen throughout, from the check in welcome drink, the immaculate rooms, to the pool side bar staff. The restaurant choice is fantastic, offering six on site dining options. I would highly recommend the super half board dine around option which means you can dine in any restaurant and take lunch instead of dinner. For extra privacy and luxury, the villas are more secluded than the rooms and suites and offer excellent family style accommodation with private pools.

You will not be disappointed upon arrival as this resort has a stunning and impressive entrance. You'll be met with a cold towel, refreshment and big smile!
There are various accommodation options each one decorated in a cool modern style with items such as ostrich skin chairs and clever design features like sliding balcony doors which retract entirely giving an uninterrupted view of the sea.
The restaurants also have an exciting dcor and one restaurant not to be missed is the Minotaur restaurant which is decorated solely with pieces of Picasso's ceramics.
Even the small details have not gone unnoticed at the Amirandes as they have even provided a small refrigeration unit specifically for ladies makeup!
This resort offers great dining options, brilliant service and accommodation within a resort that is of an easy size to navigate without any long walks or buggy rides to return to your room.

Styled around the sprawling palaces of the Minoan kings and Venetian nobles who once ruled Crete, Amirandes has been built with traditional local materials of water, glass, stone and wood. The beachfront resort offers extensive accommodation options with some super suites perfect for families. These come either with or without an individual pool and all have views over the lush gardens, the tranquil lagoon or the sandy beach and out to sea. If you can tear yourself away from your room there is an Olympic sized freshwater pool, three tennis courts, a water sports center and luxury spa to keep you busy. Enjoy all this whilst your children are kept entertained in Grecoland where there are a range of activities for 2 - 12 year olds. They can take advantage of the of the 'tasty corner' where a constant supply of freshly prepared and healthy meals are served free of charge for children. They can eat as much and as often as they like between 11am and 5pm. For adults, being wined and dined at Amirandes is a quite an experience with six restaurants to choose from all included if you take the 'dine around' option. Try the Mediterranean cuisine at Lago di Candida and savour the freshness and flavor of local ingredients, or try the trendy Asian cuisine at Blue Monkey. For something more casual there is the Amirandes buffet perfect for all the family.

Amirandes offers Cretan hospitality at its best. The breakfast there was one of the most spectacular buffet offerings I have seen, with everything from sushi to waffles on offer, washed down with exquisite smoothies and juices, or, if you're feeling decadent, a glass of chilled prosecco. I was also lucky enough to try some fresh seafood at the beachfront Petrino restaurant, and some delicious local specialities at 'Xasteria', which means 'under the stars' and offers fresh produce from Amirandes' own farm in a charming alfresco setting.

Children are fully catered for at the Amirandes. There are some great family room options. For example the Amirandes family suite in the Candida wing which is 42m2 with a double room for the parents and a separate room for the children with two single beds. This room has a private pool, perfect for lazing next to or splashing around with the children. All rooms with private pools can be provided with pool fencing.
Next to the Olympic size swimming pool at the resort there is a small children's pool which has shading to ensure that little ones don't get too hot in the summer months.
The kids club takes children from 2 years up and has a fabulous outdoor play area. Activities run until 6pm and then the entertainment team are on hand to keep them occupied in the evenings. All the restaurants have children's menus with dining starting from 6.30pm. Don't miss the decking that magically rises out of the lagoon at night for you to eat on top of the water, children will love it!

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have visited. As you enter the front door, your senses are overwhelmed by the views out over the Mediterranean, and you are welcomed by the most amazingly friendly team. There is not one room I wouldn't want to stay in, or pool I didn't want to swim in. As for the food, there were some really innovative dishes, made all the more delicious by many of the ingredients having been grown locally. Our plane was late, so Amirandes let us stay for as long as we were able, rather than have to wait at the airport. I know where I'd rather spend three extra hours!
