Average time to visit

Provence enjoys a pleasant, Mediterranean climate. On average, Provence gets 300 days of sunshine each year, with warm but mild temperatures. Summer is high season here, with August bringing the hottest weather and the biggest crowds. Spring is a great time of year, the weather is warm, with temperatures swaying between 16 and 20°C, and the crowds are small. If you want to see lavender fields then it would be best to visit the region in June. In October the weather starts to cool. Fall is also the start of the wettest weeks of the year. October sees an average of 3.7 inches of rain, with an average of three inches following in November. Still, it never gets all that chilly and snow is rare. Hotel Crillon Le Brave is closed in January and February.

Description

La Bastide de Gordes is located at the heart of the picturesque village of Gordes, with exceptional views over the Luberon mountains. Carved into the rock face, the 18th Century castle provides gourmet cuisine, inviting swimming pools and a luxury spa.

La Bastide de Gordes retains a classical 18th-Century theme throughout the property with walls ordered with portraits and tapestries and your room key even arrives in the form of a decorative shield! Some rooms feature traditional roll-top, claw-footed, free-standing baths and have spectacular, uninterrupted views either over the valley and to the mountains or overlooking the heart of the quaint village. As well as paintings, you will also find wood sculptures, period furniture and ornamental artifacts throughout the hotel, creating an authentic, regal atmosphere.

This beautiful hotel offers everything you may need for a comfortable stay with 3 restaurants, a spa and fitness center, a bar, children’s club, separate adults and children’s pools and stunning terraces with gorgeous views over the valley and surrounding village. Gordes is known as one of the most beautiful villages in France with a medieval castle and cobbled alleyways winding through dry-stone houses. There are many art galleries to visit in the village and staying at the hotel, you are perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area.

The Sisley spa has a large indoor pool, a hammam, sauna, sensory showers and uses the well sought-after Sisley products. There is also a well-equipped fitness room and, of course, a large range of treatments on offer, which you may even choose to take outside on the private terrace. Outside, the inviting swimming pool overlooks the valley, surrounded by lush gardens.

Children are exceptionally well looked after here with a separate children’s pool, a games room, arcades, table football and much more to keep them occupied. The hotel also organize Treasure hunts and Olympiads and younger guests can even enjoy their own brunch on the terrace, so that adults can have some peace and privacy. There are also interconnecting room options creating an array of possibilities for families of all sizes.

For meals, the hotel features three restaurants, one of which, Pèir, holds a Michelin star and is overseen by Pierre Gagnaire, who accredits three Michelin stars to his name. For his menu Pierre celebrates Provencal cuisine using local flavors and ingredients to create delicate dishes. The intimate restaurant features just 8 tables and you can choose to dine either inside in the charming vaults with exposed beams and stone floors or on the terrace, enjoying the sweeping views of the Luberon mountains.

As well as Pèir there are two further restaurants; La Citadelle, a historic restaurant serving traditional Provencal cuisine or L’Orangerie offering a bistro-setting and a selection of Mediterranean products. Down in the village, you will also find a small Italian restaurant which serves up delicious pizzas, pastas and salads with a shady terrace to enjoy watching the daily activity of the village.

The rooms and suites have views either over the pretty village of Gordes or over the expansive valley and Luberon Mountains. Most rooms are decorated in traditional, patterned wallpaper, adding a striking contrast to the dark wood furniture. Others feature refined wood panelling and wall murals, complimenting the traditional ornaments and period furniture. There is also a separate dressing area and bathrooms have terracotta tiled floors with either a shower or bath. The large suites have a seating area and some also enjoy a beautiful terrace and there are a number of interconnecting options.

For large groups, or families, La Maison de Constance offers an enclosed 3-story, 4-bedroom house complete with private gardens and swimming pool. The rooms are all en-suite and there is also a kitchen, dining room and lounge. Guests staying here still enjoy all the facilities of the hotel making this a perfect choice for those looking for some space and privacy.
