As part of the family owned Sibuet Maisons & Hotels group, Les Fermes de Marie is more like a hamlet than a hotel, with its nine interlinked chalets which house the accommodation, restaurants, and spa. Located just a short 10 minute walk from the center of Megève (or a two minute drive), this beautiful hotel is set in 5 acres of pretty grounds and from the moment you pull up the drive, you feel like you are entering a very magical and special place.
This complex of nine chalets started life several centuries ago as farmhouses and were each painstakingly salvaged and meticulously re-built to create the 70-bedroom hotel in 1989 by Joseph Sibuet. Each and every stone, beam and antique is filled with history creating a unique and enchanting atmosphere, the very epitome of a luxury ski retreat.
Accommodation is made up of rooms and suites, with plenty of good options for families. The children will love the Hameau des Enfants, the on-site and very spacious kids club.
When it comes to dining, there are a choice of two on-site restaurants, and those opting for half board can dine in a further two restaurants in the center of Megève. The comfortable bar area longs for you to snuggle up on one of the leather sofas and enjoy a drink or two and the library area is an ideal spot for those seeking a little peace and quiet.
Each morning the shuttle will deliver you to the slopes where the top-class skiing awaits. The resort caters particularly well for intermediates and families with younger children with gentle slopes. The tree-lined pistes offer good refuge on snowy days.
After a day on the slopes, the Pure Altitude Spa offers a world of respite with its extensive facilities including an indoor pool and 17 treatment rooms. Pure Altitude is now a brand of cosmetic treatment products that use plant extracts with active ingredients from over 50 mountain plants that have anti-oxidant and remineralising properties.
Megève is a very attractive village, very French, upmarket and glamorous. Its proximity to Geneva makes it ideal for anyone wanting to avoid a long transfer.
Guests staying at Les Fermes de Marie on half board can choose to either eat at the hotel or dine at the other Sibuet restaurants in Megève including Les Enfants Terribles-Megève at the Hotel Mont Blanc and The Beef Lodge at Le Lodge Park, both of which are located in the center of Megève.
At Les Fermes de Marie, there is a choice of two restaurants: the Traditionnel which serves light, flavorsome dishes using fresh produce and the Alpin which serves Alpine specialties including fondues and raclette.
The Pure Altitude Spa is a brand in its own right and at the Les Fermes de Marie there are 17 treatment rooms, a large indoor pool, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis and saunas and a fitness room.
There is an on-site ski shop for ski hire and any clothing needs and the hotel operates a shuttle service to the slopes and the village center until 11.30pm each day.
Location & Directions
Megève lies at the heart of the Mont Blanc mountain range; with a convenient location just an hour away from Geneva airport. The village is close to an efficient motorway network and a bus station. The railway station in Sallanches is 13km away.
When to go
Megève has a typically Alpine climate, with low temperatures (often sub-zero) between December and March and then warming up. Its proximity to Mont Blanc has a benign influence on its climate, guaranteeing more snow than in resorts of a similar altitude an quite often there are good snowfalls in April.
