Description

Just south of Dijon and an easy 25-minute drive to Beaune and just 5 and a bit hours from Calais, it is a perfect stop over for a few days break to explore the wonderful region of Burgundy or halt on route for the South of France. This wonderful boutique hotel of character occupies a beautiful location and is housed in two historic buildings in the 'Old Quarter’ of the village. The charming and contemporary décor of the accommodation is the perfect resting place for those wanting to discover this wine region and its gastronomic delights. Unique in this area, this hotel has already a reputation as one of ‘The’ places to stop in the region and whether you are there for a couple of nights, or a week, the charming owners have a myriad of fascinating insights and activities to tempt you into discovering more about Burgundy and her treasures.

Lovingly restored by husband and wife team Jolanta and Paul, this fabulous collection of buildings has a glorious setting overlooking the surrounding vineyards and hills.

Paul and Jolanta have taken great care with the thorough renovation of this property to create something which really is very special. Paul’s personal art collection and choice antiques sourced especially for the property, can be seen in many if not most of the rooms which, along with the couples’ warm hospitality, really create a cosy and welcoming feel to their guests.

Guests staying here will enjoy walks around the quiet but pretty village, journeys to nearby vineyards and restaurants or may even want to cycle and take in the spectacular scenery along the quiet roads and the `Route des Grands Cru’. The Route starts just south of Dijon and runs through the many charming wine villages that lie along the foot of the Cote and will not doubt be enjoyed by those who extend their time here.

For those not wanting to venture too far however underneath the property is a huge cellar which is soon to be part of a vin-café and will be adored by wine lovers (opening 2014).

Whether you stay for a couple of nights or a few days there is so much to do and explore and Paul and Jolanta are there with so many activities and ideas you will have to return!

Facilities

The Café at Les Deux Chevres has yet to open but when it does it will serve a selection of hot and cold drinks and light meals created from locally sourced organic produce wherever possible. However, there are some restaurants within walking distance of Les Deux Chevres which have some tempting menus. A continental breakfast is served daily.

Activities

Les Deux Chevres is the ideal base from which to acquaint yourself with the wines of the region as the vineyards which surround it have been producing wine for over 2000 years. It is a great place to learn about the history of wine making as well as participating in some tasting sessions and going on tours of the vineyards.

There is some wonderful walking in the area, a particularly good one is a walk up to the top of the Cote through the woods. On a clear day you can see the Jura Mountains and often the Alps. There are some spectacular scenic cycle rides which are a great way to take in the local area. The 'Route des Grands Crus' starts just south of Dijon and takes you through several picturesque wine villages along the foot of the Cote.

There are many places of interest to visit near Les Deux Chevres. Beaune is a medieval city about 26km away and is the most visited city after Paris in France. Here you can find the famous Hospices de Beaune. Dijon is a mere 12km away and is bustling with fabulous architecture and also has a fun market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.
