Stockholm is a year round destination but is at its best in spring, summer and December. From May to September temperatures are warm, early twenties but in the height of summer can reach up to 30 degrees and the sun doesn't set until around 10:30pm, rising at around 3:00am so you can really pack a lot in! During the winter temperatures do get cold but it is a great place to go for a pre-Christmas getaway.

Hotel Skeppsholmen is a true urban oasis in the heart of Stockholm. Located on the waterfront of Skeppsholmen island surrounded by leafy trees and well-kept gardens you would never know you're just a stones throw from the city center and the Old Town.
Hotel Skeppsholmen dates back to 1699 when it was built in order to house the Royal Marines. The building exchanged hands many times, each time being developed for various different uses such as a hospice, a storage facility for the Navy, residential apartments for the Navy and their families and lastly Navy offices.
During its extensive renovation by Swedish architects Claesson Koivisto Rune many of the original constructions and details were uncovered and restored adding a unique historical feel to the elegant and modern design of the hotel. The clean, neutral color scheme and modern Swedish décor is beautifully complimented by the original 17th century wooden floors and staircases.
The 78 rooms and suites have been decorated in a classically Swedish manner. They are spacious and minimalist with light colors, wooden floors and all have beautiful sea or garden views. The relaxed restaurant has a very inviting atmosphere with warm lighting, comfortable seating and delicious locally produced traditional Swedish fare with a modern twist.
Hotel Skeppsholmen is neighbored by the Museum of Modern Art, the Swedish Museum of Architecture, and the remarkable Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities and if you walk just a little further afield across the bridge you'll find yourselves on Kungsträdgården Stockholm's absolute city center.
Hotel Skeppsholmen has 78 rooms and suites of varying categories. The rooms are contemporary but retain elements of the historic building they are located in. Comfort and tranquillity were at the forefront of the designers mind, and this is reflected in the soothing color palates and luxurious bedding and amenities.
Hotel Skeppsholmen is home to the Langa Raden Restaurant. A vibrant yet relaxing setting from which you can savour some delicious Swedish Cuisine and some refreshing drinks.
The hotel has a small gym which is open 24/7 and the hotel can point you in the right direction of some fabulous tennis courts, swimming pools and spas.
Stockholm offers a huge amount to see and do. Hiring a bicycle is a great way to spend the day and see the city - there are organized tours or you can explore on your own. For the more adventurous catch a rib ride around the archipelago, or alternatively rent a kayak to take in the sites at a more leisurely pace! During the height of the summer you might like to go and spend a few hours at one of the city's beaches and you can even swim, right in the city center as the water is so clean! The hotel also has a tennis court so you could work up a sweat before cooling off with a dip in the sea!

Hotel Skeppsholmen is a great modern style hotel in a building with some history behind it, giving in a little extra charm. It used to be a military barracks and then a hospice before being made in to a hotel. The staff are so helpful and friendly and you instantly feel at home.

Walking up to this 17th century building with the snow whirling around you, I was transported to a different time. Once inside however the cosy, classic Scandinavian dcor felt fresh and modern and made for a very comfortable base. I particularly liked their eco credentials which encouraged you to think of the environment without compromising on the quality of the stay. I could have whiled away the hours in the subtly lit lounge area with sheepskin seats and a cinnamon bun had there not been so much to explore just a 5 minute walk away. Stockholm is such a vibrant city and Hotel Skeppsholmen makes the perfect retreat.

Set on its own island but just 10 minutes walk to the center of the city this hotel is great for families and couples. The rooms are minimal but luxurious. The food is just magnificent and the service was immaculate. Breakfast is quite a treat!

Such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere with incredibly friendly and helpful staff, rooms are decorated in a very Scandinavian style, quite minimalist and very elegant. The best part is sitting outside on the terrace during the summer looking across the water to the city center. It's a great choice for families too as there is a lot of outdoor space for kids to run around.
