On arrival at Dorsia you may wonder if you have arrived at the wrong destination and have in fact stumbled upon a scene from Alice in Wonderland. The walls of the entrance hall are lined with majestically embossed wallpaper and adorned with fascinating pieces of art work. Split over two levels either side of the hall are several lounge areas which offer invitingly sumptuous velvet armchairs and provide a romantic and almost secretive place to sample a delicious cocktail.
The ethereal theme is continued throughout the hotel. Designers Guild was commissioned as interior designer to the Dorsia and not an inch has gone untouched. Each of the 37 rooms is exquisitely designed to the highest of standards. Duvets are filled with mulberry silk, the bed linen is made from the finest Egyptian cotton and the Carpe Diem beds are so comfortable that you’ll find it a struggle to get up in the morning! The lavish bathrooms are decorated with different colored mosaics, state of the art baths and showers and gorgeous marble sinks.
The restaurant is open from 6:30am until 1:00am and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is fantastic and consists largely of Swedish fare with a French twist. The wine list is extensive, the gin collection impressive and the cocktails a little too easy to drink!

Thomas Peterson, the Hotel Manager, as a young boy was inspired by his grandfather's motto of treating his guests as if they were Kings. This is a motto he has carried into his hotel and restaurant today. The hotel was built around the restaurant so the restaurant is very much at the heart of the hotel. It is a fine dining French restaurant with an exquisite menu to chose from. The restaurant is grandly decorated with elegant velour chairs, heavy curtains and colorful fabrics creating a royal dining experience.

When to go
Gothenburg is a year round destination but is at its best in spring, summer and December. From May to September temperatures are warm, early twenties but in the height of summer can reach up to 30 degrees and the sun doesn't set until around 10:30pm, rising at around 3:00am so you can really pack a lot in! A lot of Swedes have summer houses in Marstrand and it's a great opportunity to do some sailing. During the winter temperatures do get cold but it is a great place to go for a pre-Christmas getaway.
