Nordic climate - May, June and July are the driest months of the year. Mid-June to August is high season, but most highland tours don’t operate until July because of snow. At other times, many tourist facilities outside Reykjavík are closed. From September through March, the night is dark enough to see the Aurora Borealis.

The bar at the Apotek attracts the locals and therefore has a vibrant and lively feel. Rooms are stylish and plush with lovely bathrooms (showers only) and most have great views over the square. This hotel is a great option for couples or families and is based very close to the harbor and all of the restaurants and shops in the city.

I visited the Apotek Hotel when it had just opened its doors. The design had an Art Deco feel to it which you can see in the other higher end hotels of Reykjavik. The parquet floors were lovely and brought a warmth to the hotel; bathrooms were wonderfully bright though it is a shame none of the rooms have baths which is all you want in winter! The Apotek Grill was so nice, the lighting was so warm and cosy and the food was delicious. Great value.
