Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The main tourist season is between June and August, when the weather is the warmest. Standout seasons to visit St Petersburg are late spring (May or June) and early autumn (September or October), when the city’s parks are filled with flowering trees or colourful leaves.

The deepest, darkest part of winter is undeniably cold but if you are prepared it can be an adventure. Furs and vodka keep people warm and snow-covered landscapes are picturesque. A solid snow pack covers the ground from November to March. The city gets fired up to ring in the New Year, when Muscovites emerge from their warm homes into the winter night for free concerts and fireworks.

To start planning your holiday to The Angleterre

Angleterre Hotel is one of the best known landmarks of the 'Northern Capital' of Russia. Conveniently located on St. Isaac's Square, this long-established luxury hotel offers elegance and impeccable service in the very heart of the city.

The Angleterre Hotel is the sister property, and just next door, to Rocco Forte's Astoria Hotel. Very similar in style, it is contemporary, light and fresh and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and lots of character.

The location is absolutely fabulous, right opposite St Isaac's Cathedral and a very short walk to the buzzing Nevsky Prospekt and the world renowned Hermitage Museum.

The 192 rooms have either spectacular views of St. Isaac's, or the quiet inner courtyard. They are designed in a simple and elegant style with lovely wooden floors, contemporary furnishings and marble bathrooms with showers and bathtubs.

Located on the fourth floor of the impressive hotel lies an extensive fitness club, giving guests access to saunas, a swimming pool, turbo-solarium, a gym equipped with high-performance TechnoGym machine and a Beauty Studio.

The Angleterre has a lively and informal Italian restaurant called Borsalino. The food is delicious and focused around classic dishes from a variety of regions in Italy - the restaurant is a popular haunt for guests and locals alike.

If, after a busy day's sightseeing, you feel like a couple of hours of relaxing, head to the Angleterre Cinema Lounge where they show recent films all in their original language with Russian subtitles.

All guests have access to the facilities at the Astoria Hotel next door.

Cordelia Nicholls (Staff)

The hotel had such a nice atmosphere, so friendly and relaxed. Staff are very keen to help in any way they can and nothing seems too much trouble. The restaurant was very busy with lots of locals, which can only be a good sign! A really great option for a slightly less expensive hotel that still has all the creature comforts and excellent location.
