To start planning your vacation to Pushkarskaya Sloboda
The main feature of the Pushkarskaya Sloboda Hotel is its architecture, which combines the buildings of the 19th century with typical Russian wooden structures. Staying here, guests can enjoy the best of Russian traditions and spirit.
The hotel accommodates its guests in originally-designed rooms of different categories, and offer first-class service in the best traditions of Russian hospitality. The 'Russkoe podvorie,' traditional Russian wooden houses are cosy, comfortable, full of character and give you a real taste of living in rural Russia in another time. They add to the experience of this remarkable town that has such a rich history despite their small size.
The other room types are designed with a slightly more modern style and are comfortable although slightly less atmospheric! All rooms come equipped with all the mod-cons; wifi, minibar and TV.
The hotel has three restaurants, the best of which, the Beehive, serves excellent Russian inspired dishes. The restaurant is decorated in traditional Russian style of past centuries, much like the wooden lodges and often has evening performances from traditional folklore bands.
Accommodation consists of either traditional Russian wooden lodges that have between two and six rooms in each; and each room sleeps two people so ideal for families; and more contemporary rooms in mansion style houses located around the hotel grounds.
Children are more than welcome at Pushkarskaya Sloboda - go for the Russkoe podvorie that have two or more bedrooms per lodge and the other buildings do not have connecting rooms. There are activities and entertainment provided for children at weekends.
There are three restaurants, the most notable being the Beehive that serves some international dishes but focuses mainly on traditional Russian fare. Great value and delicious food.

When to go
The main tourist season is between June and August, when the weather is the warmest. Standout seasons to visit St Petersburg are late spring (May or June) and early autumn (September or October), when the city’s parks are filled with flowering trees or colorful leaves.
The deepest, darkest part of winter is undeniably cold but if you are prepared it can be an adventure. Furs and vodka keep people warm and snow-covered landscapes are picturesque. A solid snow pack covers the ground from November to March. The city gets fired up to ring in the New Year, when Muscovites emerge from their warm homes into the winter night for free concerts and fireworks.
