Melbourne enjoys a temperate climate with warm summers, balmy and mild spring and autumn and cool winters. The main summer season is from December-February and the quietest time of the year is the Aussie winter June-August. However, as Melbourne plays host to many international sporting events as well as fashion weeks and international conferences, it is always a good idea to book in advance and check to find out what is happening in the city when you are looking to book.

Located in South Yarra, an extremely popular suburb with its own vibe and heart. All the best boutique high end shops and restaurants aspire to be here and locals are proud to live here. The hotel doesn't have great views but it's a great suburban hotel with personal service. The dining room is a bit small and there sadly isn't a pool. It's a great outer city hotel for those wanting a quieter area

The tiny but lovely Lyall is a boutique independently hotel located in a quiet, leafy street in the chic South Yarra neighborhood.
The interior is best described as contemporary classic with a touch of European elegance. The service is excellent yet with a typical Australian laid back feel. With just 40 rooms there is a choice of one- and two-bedroom suites and nine of them interconnecting and perfect for families. The two-bedroom suites also come complete with a compact kitchenette and washing machine. Then there is the Grand Suite which has hosted world leaders, professional sports personalities and Hollywood A listers and features a balcony and spa bath.
Bistro Lyall serves contemporary Australian cuisine and the Champagne bar is renowned throughout the city. The best spot is definitely in the lobby next to the open fire. There's also an excellent day spa, gym and library.
Just one street away is Melbourne's best French restaurant while the shopping precinct of Chapel Street is just a short stroll away.

If you are staying in Melbourne but want something a bit less over the top than Crown Towers, The Lyall is a great option. It is located in a quiet yet ultra chic suburb called South Yarra, that is Melbourne’s super stylish neighborhood. The hotel is all suite accommodation, with lovely subtle décor and great service, but don’t expect many ‘facilities’ as it doesn’t have a pool and only has one restaurant. But it is the perfect pad to base yourself as Melbourne has so much to offer and it is definitely a great boutique option.
Day 2 - Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk: Milanesia Track to Moonlight Head
This mornings hike is more challenging than yesterday, but avid walkers will be rewarded with spectacular seascapes and wild-weathered headlands.
