When to go
Generally Jordan is most pleasant from September to November and February to April. The lowest areas such as the Jordan Valley and Gulf of Aqaba get much hotter in summer, and the winter is a lot colder in higher central and northern areas. Snow in Amman is not unheard of and even Petra gets the occasional fall.
- April is probably the best month to visit, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom.
- The Dead Sea region is generally warm all year round, and is a great destination for escaping the gloom of the British winter.
- If you’re planning to visit the Jerash Festival in July or August, bear in mind that it is fiercely hot at this time of year, though it is a dry heat and thus easier to deal with. Come well prepared with a hat, sunscreen and protective clothing.
