Casa Heliconia is an intimate hideaway with unique and stylish pavilions ideally located only 25km from the airport, making it the perfect spot for relaxation before flying in or out of Sri Lanka.
Located between Kandy and Colombo, this peaceful paradise is set in lush jungle but yet offers luxurious comfort. The property comprises of two Pavilion style bedrooms. Both with beautiful settings and lovely big double beds. The two pavilions are totally different in style and set up, although they do both have private dining areas.
Ideal for couples or an older family seeking an small scale experience in rural Sri Lanka. Casa Heliconia is ideal for a couple of nights on arrival to Sri Lanka or at the end of your trip, just before you leave. It is conveniently located only 40km from the heart of Colombo and only 25km from the capital’s airport. The property is based on the perimeter of a farming village, sits in beautiful grounds which include a stunning temple stupa and is surrounded by plantations.
Experiences can include visits to markets, small temples, villages and farmland. The chefs will also put on amazing cooking demonstrations.
Temple Angkor is a beautifully laid out room, with en-suite bathroom and an outside shower in traditional Sir Lankan Style. The room has a great sit out dining area at the back.
Pagoda Gold is the small of the two pavilions with a loo that is outside, and down some steps. It also has an area were you can dine outside.
Pavilion Neapolitan is the third of the Pavilions and has covered seating and loungers overlooking a small infinity pool and the paddy-fields beyond. The Doll's House is furnished is the perfect place for the children to hang out; with free WiFi, computer, TV and books to read. The room is fully air conditioned and a great place to wind down. You eat at your room to maximise on the privacy of the property.
There are many beautiful temples surrounding Casa Heliconia, you can go on a stroll from the property or go with a driver to explore the different opportunities. Another activity that is a particular favourite of the guests is to take a village walk to see the nearby Wewaldeniya. The village provides an outlet for locally made cane baskets and mats in its bazaar. A trip to the market there is always fun.

A wonderfully unique property, nested in beautiful surroundings. There are only two rooms here and I certainly preferred the Temple Angkor Pavilion. It has a wonderful dining area outside and the staff will do cooking demonstrations in the traditional Keralan kitchen opposite.

We stayed at Casa Heliconia at the end of our stay in Sri Lanka and we had an amazing staff of 2 and they really looked after us very well.
Colombo - Cookery Demonstration
Visit a local market to choose ingredients before heading to Mrs Dole's house where she will explain and demonstrate the art of Sri Lankan cuisine. Visitors can participate in the cooking and then enjoy the fruits of their labour with a delicious lunch.
