The Jungle Lodge lies in the heart of Chitwan National Park, a world heritage site since 1984. A true wilderness in every sense of the word with its extraordinary humidity, lush riverine grasslands, densely forested hills and comforting background choir of crickets singing, the park is also home to a plethora of wildlife including a staggering number of bird species and the majestic and elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.
A pair of treehouses nestle unobtrusively in a clearing, looking out to the Narayani River as it swells and falls throughout the year. The treehouses have been designed with minimal environmental impact in mind and are home to pared down rooms in natural colors and fabrics. As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, Jungle Lodge runs almost entirely on solar energy.
Facilities include a spectacular central ‘ghol ghar’ or round-house which contains a small library and an extensive bar. With its glorious 180 degree views and welcoming cushions, the sweeping verandah provides the perfect place to unwind and drink in the surroundings. Paradise fly-catchers dart through the air, monkeys gallivant on the lawn, rhinos graze contentedly in the middle distance and the Royal Bengal Tiger will often prowl down to the riverbank to drink.
The kitchen at Jungle Lodge produces delicious, beautifully presented home-style cooking. Eggs sunny-side up, freshly squeezed orange juice and a pot of strong coffee to the start the day off, home-baked biscuits at tea-time and a basket of steaming samosas to accompany your evening sundowner before dinner.
There are 28 en suite rooms offering hot water and comfortable furnishings. Although not hugely luxurious, they offer a comfortable wildlife lodge experience.
