Description

Located in the heart of the Royal Chitwan National Park, Temple Tiger Jungle Resort is best known for quality of service and excellent accommodation. The lodge is not accessible by car – to get there you must take a boat across the river marking the border of the park, followed by a fifteen minute jeep ride.

Rooms are traditional thatched cottages, spread throughout the camp and lit at night by kerosene lamps. All rooms have twin beds, private balconies and ensuite bathrooms with hot running water. Days are filled with elephant safaris through the park, with no set paths to follow you are free to go as you please, seeking out rhinos, deer, bear and even the elusive tiger.

The lodge owns 10 elephants and guests are given the opportunity to bathe and spend time with them and their mahouts. Jeep rides and boat rides are also available, as well as walking and bird watching.

Accommodation

Temple Tiger Lodge offers 33 traditional thatched cottages, spread throughout the camp and lit at night by kerosene lamps. All rooms have twin beds, private balconies overlooking the grasslands and ensuite bathrooms with hot running water.

Childcare

Children are accepted but there are no specific facilities. Older children will love the game drives both by elephant and by jeep and the boat rides along the Narayani river.

Facilities

The viewing deck is a major attraction from which various species of birds including migratory ones can be spotted. The man made swamp below has become a waterhole for occasional wildlife visitors too.

The Round House is a feature of the lodge is the circular dining room and bar called the Gol Ghar with its huge domed roof and central open hearth; a special place to relax with friends and discuss the day’s adventures. The Square Dining Hall: Its central sunken fireplace sets the perfect mood for a hot meal or quiet relaxation. The bar remains open until the last guest retires. The fully stocked bar offers a range of international and homespun cocktails such as the renowned Temple Tiger Special. A selection of wines is also available. This lounge area in the gazebo style with its welcoming atmosphere is a favorite to all. The bar makes it a good relaxing spot. The lodge has a reputed kitchen that serves a range of western and Nepali cuisine utilizing fresh organic food supplies. All meals, tea, coffee, snacks, and light drinks are included.

Activities

Complimentary activities at the Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge include walking, bird watching (the park is home to around 450 species of birds), elephant and jeep safaris, wildlife lectures and boat rides along the Narayani river.

Temple Tiger is located in the heart of Nepal ’s premier Chitwan National Park, it's situated 189 km southwest of Kathmandu at an elevation of about 150 meters above sea level.

When to go

Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Fall and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Fall (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
