The Summit River Lodge is an ideal stop between Kathmandu and Pokhara for 1 or 2 nights, offering a wonderful chance to walk into local villages which have had little interaction with tourists.
You approach the Summit River Lodge by taking the Prithvi Highway and then crossing the river and walking 30 minutes to the lodge. Your bags will be taken for you (and often arrive before you do).
There are 7 en-suite rooms offering hot showers, although the rooms are fairly simple. There is a main communal area with a bar and a delightful terrace and gardens offering wonderful views over the Trisuli River below. Do note that the Highway is over the other side of the valley, and you can hear to vehicles drive along.
Activities include a day spent white water rafting, and ideal for those who don't wish to stay overnight in tented accommodation but return to the lodge at night. The village walk is delightful and takes you through some interesting tribal villages, especially those of the Chepang and Magars. See age-old farming techniques on display, and walk onto pollution-free springs and streams beyond. For those with an interest in Hindu temples, then you can take the cable-car (located on the other side of the river) to the temple of Manakamana, and on certain days you will see the local Brahmins sacrificing goats in Manakamana's honour. 'Mana' means heart and 'Kamana' means wish, and many pilgrims come from afar hoping their wishes will be granted.
What the Summit River Lodge is give you another aspect to visiting Nepal, and often missed off many itineraries, and providing welcome relief from the more visited regions.
There are 10 standard rooms that are comfortable and simple, there are also 7 deluxe rooms for those who would like a little more up in the Mountains. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are air conditioned or heated in the winter months.
The Summit Village Lodge has a main communal area for meals, and also has a bar. There is also a swimming pool to relax in and for those that would like to take in the beauty of the area a patio overlooking the river.

When to go
Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Fall and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Fall (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
