Located on the Lhaviyani Atoll, Kanuhura is in a totally undeveloped part of the Maldives archipelago and is surrounded by hundreds of uninhabited islands and unexplored dive sites. The island of Kanuhura can be described as a 'castaway chic experience' with 5 star accommodation set in pristine, natural surroundings.
The resort underwent a full refurbishment in 2016 and has been beautifully redone with a new lifestyle concept 'Gypset' - combining the unconventionality of the Gypsy fused with the sophistication and speed of the jet set. The island has 80 villas, located either on the sunset or sunrise side of the world-famous white powder beach, or over the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Each villa has its own private deck extending to the beach or lagoon. The villas have been decorated with a bright, modern feel with soft colors and natural materials.
Kanuhura offers a true gastronomic experience with 5 different dining options as well as 2 bars including a street food market, Brazilian beach grill, living herb garden, and champagne and oysters on board a traditional Maldivian Dhoni. The resort also offers a unique grill restaurant on a neighboring private island as well as private meals on a deserted sand bank.

When to go
The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.
February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Easter and the Italian vacation week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts.
Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.
Diving is good year-round, although a basic rule is that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of any atoll from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.
The surfing season runs from March to October, which is when resorts are cheapest.
