The Oberoi Rajvilas is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Built in the style of a fort reminiscent of Princely India, and just half an hour from Jaipur, the city that epitomizes Rajasthan to most visitors. Rajvilas is a luxury resort full of character.
All rooms have four poster beds and sunken marble baths overlooking private walled gardens. Interiors of the Royal Villa highlight the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that distinguishes the hotel. Many of the rooms are built around courtyards in typical Rajasthani style. Others are set in their own private gardens and are “tented” with brick walls and canvas canopies. The more extravagant villas have private pools.
The exquisite spa is housed in an authentic Haveli, preserved in its original location, where you can enjoy a range of massages and holistic treatments to relax and unwind. The dining rooms offer a choice of pan-Indian specialities, western and oriental dishes.
Activities on site include tennis, croquet and golf putting but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Attractions nearby include the spectacular City Palace which was once the residence of the ruling family of Jaipur, the Hawa Mahal, the Amber Fort and the Jaigarh Fort built by Jaisingh II in 1726. Finally the Nahargarh stands guard over Jaipur, on a sheer rock face about 2 km from the city center, dominating the skyline.
The Oberoi Rajvilas offers 71 rooms and suites. All rooms feature an LCD TV, DVD player, satellite TV, wireless broadband internet access, separate walk-in closet with electronic safe, dual line telephones with voice mail, a personal minibar, personalized butler service and a well appointed bathroom with Ayurvedic toiletries.
The Oberoi Rajvilas has 13 air-conditioned Luxury Tents that measure 45 square meters each and are surrounded by a private garden. The tent features an elegantly appointed bedroom with a king size bed, a dressing area with two closets, a four fixture bathroom with a free-standing claw footed bathtub opening onto the private patio with lounge beds. The interiors of the tents are beautifully appointed with block printed and hand embroidered fabrics and timber flooring. Each tent offers a private terrace and a garden around the perimeter surrounded by a traditional Rajasthani mud wall.
The Oberoi Rajvilas offers 54 Premier Rooms located in clusters of four and six rooms. Each cluster includes a central courtyard with a garden and fountain. The Premier Rooms measure 42 square meters each. These include an elegantly appointed bedroom with a four poster king size bed, a dressing room with a walk-in closet and a spacious marble four fixture bathroom with a sunken bath and separate shower overlooking a private walled garden.
The Royal Tent has two separate air-conditioned tents: one as the master bedroom and another as the living room. The beautifully appointed, living room tent has a dining table for six people, a small lounging area, washroom and a writing table. The bedroom tent features a four poster king size bed, a dressing area with two closets, a four fixture bathroom with a free-standing claw footed bathtub. Set in an expansive area of 650 sq mts, the Royal Tent has a beautifully manicured private garden enclosed by the traditional mud wall which is ideal for relaxing and private dining.

Each Luxury Villa that measures 355 sq mts has a private swimming pool which is heated in winter, a bedroom with a four poster king size bed and a dressing room with walk in closet. The en-suite marble bathroom has a double vanity counter, a sunken bath and separate shower cubicle overlooking the private walled garden. The villa also has a separate living room, a pantry and an outdoor dining pavilion overlooking the pool.

The Kohinoor Villa is a private oasis spread over 1057 sq. mts., with gardens, a 60 feet heated pool, an outdoor dining pavilion and elegantly appointed individual accommodations. Each Kohinoor Villa measures 1057 sq mts. There is a master bedroom with an adjoining lounge area, an additional guest bedroom and a separate spacious living room opening out onto the gardens and pool. Each of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom with sunken marble bathtubs and beautiful views of private walled gardens. Elegant furniture, exquisite upholstery and the warm interiors filled with artifacts and coffee-table books create a personal, royal, yet welcoming living space.
Children are welcome to come and stay at the Oberoi. However, there are no specific facilities available for them at the hotel. Babysitting can be arranged upon request.
Facilities at the Oberoi Rajvilas include a swimming pool, excellent spa facilities including yoga, steam room and Jacuzzi, gym, tennis court, croquet lawn, and golf putting.
Surya Mahal is the hotel's international restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many of the dishes are prepared using fresh produce from the gardens. Every night, local artisans perform live instrumental Indian music which is great fun.
Raj Mahal specializes in Indian food and offers regional delicacies from all over India to give you a taste of the variety of food available. There is a Tandoor Bar within the restaurant where you can learn to make kebabs and Indian breads. You could also opt to dine al fresco in Raj Mahal's courtyard.
Activities at the hotel include tennis, croquet, yoga and golf putting. Further afield you can explore the ancient city of Jaipur and all the outstanding monuments it has to offer.

The Oberoi Rajvilâs is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, a Northwest province of India. Located in over thirty two acres of beautiful gardens, pools and fountains in the peaceful Rajasthani countryside, eight kilometers from the city center of Jaipur.
When to go
Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters.
Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It is s the hottest season, with temperatures ranging from 32 degree C to 45 degree C, so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get cheaper rates if you dont mind the temperature in the high 30s. In western Rajasthan the temperature may reach at high as 45 degree C, particularly in May and June so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.
The second season - technically the "Monsoon" (although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall) extends from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. 90% of the rain Rajasthan can expect occurs during this period. Lakes and rivers will be higher from mountain run-off and flowers and grasses come to life, bringing added color to the landscape.
The Post-monsoon period is from October to November. The average maximum temperature is 33 degree C to 38 degree C, and the minimum is between 18 degree C and 20 degree C. The official "season" for hotels in Rajasthan starts in October. It’s a great time to travel - warm and sunny during and perfect for exploring and relaxing.
The fourth season is "winter", and runs from December to March. With day time temperatures still in the high 20's during the day this a very popular time to travel. Hotels are at the their busiest over the Christmas and new year period. Be aware though that December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also fairly standard to expect some fog in the major cities of Northern Rajstasthan and Delhi in December and January.
