Chandigarh's salubrious climate helps make it a year-round destination. Though Chandigarh has pleasant climate throughout the year, it experiences cold winters. The temperatures can drop to sub-zero conditions during the peak winter season. The best time to visit Chandigarh would be October to November and from March to May. It is advisable not to visit Chandigarh during monsoons as the place has a history of having landslides every now and then.

Located in the outer Himalayas, The Oberoi Sukhvilas is enveloped in 8,000 acres of the Siswan Forest range in New Chandigarh. An oasis that is just 30 minutes from the city centre and 45 from the city airport, the resort and accompanying spa is ideally situated for exploring the highlights of the local area or a place for guests to unwind amongst landscaped gardens, Rajput and Mughal architecture and glorious views.
With its own spa offering a variety of treatments and ample residences complete with their own pools, The Oberoi Sukhvilas is certainly not short of options for those wanting to merely potter about the resort. However, for those wanting to scatter some culture and soft adventure between indulgent Oberoi service and facilities there are options nearby to explore traditional local villages, bike along forest trails and explore Sukhna Lake and the Rock and Rose Gardens of Chandigarh.
Evenings here are spent at the multi cuisine restaurant and the bar accompanied by live traditional music before guests retire to one of the rooms, tents or villas thoughtfully dotted around the 25 acre site, offering forest views and a secluded stay.
There are five different accommodation options at The Oberoi Sukhvilas: Premier Room, Luxury Villa, Royal Tents with and without private pools and The Kohinoor Villa. Views of the forest will vary but the accommodation has been positioned to maintain privacy and optimum views from large windows which fill the traditionally designed rooms with light. All rooms, tents and villas are decorated with regal and intricately carved furniture, hand painted frescoes. The Oberoi E'nhance service enables guests to control TV viewing, internet, lighting, air-conditioning and place orders from in-room dining easily. A 24-hour personal butler is also on hand should guests need anything further.
Accessed through carved stone columns, these rooms are arranged around a courtyard complete with central fountain and array of foliage. Measuring 700 sq feet/65 sqm there is ample space for a king-sized bed, walk-in closet and bathroom that includes twin basins, waterproof 17" TV and a free standing bathtub.
This accommodation option measures a spacious 1,500sq feet/140 sqm and offers a private temperature-controlled pool (36 feet/11m). With private garden views, a private pantry, personal butler and free standing bathtub (facing a waterproof TV). The living space in the Luxury Villas incorporates a king-size bedroom, spacious bathroom, guest washroom and dining/living room.

Set in private gardens, these tents feature a spectacular private temperature controlled swimming pool, well-appointed bathroom and 800 sq feet (75 sqm) of accommodation.

This option is similar to a traditional haveli (traditional townhouse/mansion) surrounding a central courtyard and a private garden. The total living space measures 4,220 sq ft/392 sq m) There are three bedrooms in the villa and outside, a temperature controlled pool measuring 55 ft long.

There is an all-day fine dining restaurant and bar available at the resort. The Anant Mahal restaurant serves international cuisine throughout the day in both indoor and outdoor luxury dining areas. Decoration is traditional, painted by hand with gold leaf frescoes and guests can appreciate forest views. A drink at the Raunaq Bar is a wonderful place for an aperitif or a nightcap and for a really magical experience, guests can have Champagne under the stars around the resort on a speciality dining experience. The Spa at the resort offers treatment options ranging from extensive hydrotherapy, infrared sauna, vitality pool, Turkish Hammam, Roman Tepidarium or Ayurvedic therapy. Yoga and mindfulness sessions are also offered alongside programmes for stress management, weight management and holistic wellness.
Within the resort guests can enjoy afternoon tea or take part in a cooking class whilst children can bake cookies. Outside the resort guests should pay a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Capitol Complex, traditional local villages, Siswan Dam or bike through forest trails and watch for birds. It is also easy to explore other local highlights such as The Hussain Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake and the Palaces of Pinjore Garden.
