Rudra Singha truly offers a unique experience. Due to its carefully crafted design, it can access ports all the way upstream along the Brahmaputra giving you access to parts of the region hardly explored. Navigating through practically uncharted waters this houseboat experience is like no other. The state of Assam is widely thought to be one of India's most beautiful regions, full of lush vegetation spread out over tea gardens, river islands and national parks which adds to the experience's splendour.
Designed and made by local craftsman the Rudra Singha benefits from a very shallow draft which allows exploration even along the shallowest of channels and access to regions very few others are able to explore. The traditional style of the craft is clearly evident in its beautiful wood form which is complemented by local weavings. There is just one cabin on board, tastefully designed with a private bathroom and lounge with offers panoramic views over the river. For small families, on request the lounge can be converted into a second bedroom. During journeys, a charming crew of four looks after guests with a captain and crew member for the operation of the boat and a chef and manager who will act as your guide throughout the journey making sure you enjoy your stay to the fullest.
Covering large parts of the Assam region are carpets of green, from dark evergreen forests to dense grasslands providing the perfect habitat for some fantastic wildlife including rhinos, elephants, tigers and Gangetic Dolphin to name a few. There are a number of different itineraries and routes that can be explored along the Brahmaputra and you can discuss with your travel consultant what will suit you best. Each itinerary ranges from 2 - 7 nights and if you so wish or are short on time you can simply take a day trip onboard Rudra Singha.
Some interesting suggestions are to include a safari in Kaziranga National Park to start the trip off before boarding the Rudra Singha which will carry you upstream giving the chance for an insight into riverside life and the exploration of local Mishing villages. Alternatively, take the route that will allow you to float from one temple to the next exploring the fascinating and rich history of the region whilst also being able to visit the beautiful Wildlife Sanctuary at Pobitora.
We feel that this is an exceptional experience for guests that want to get off the beaten path and that have a real sense of adventure.
There is one cabin on board Rudra Singha that is beautifully and tastefully designed to reflect the traditional feel of the boat. For small families it is possible to arrange the lounge into a second bedroom using the sofa bed.
Rudra Singha is taken on a private basis so the experience can be tailored well to a family. There is just one cabin on board but a second bedroom can be created in the lounge.
During your private charter to ensure maximum comfort, on board there is a captain and first mate who manage everything necessary for the running of the boat. Alongside you have your own private chef and boat manager who acts as your private guide throughout the journey showing you all that this incredible region has to offer and assisting with anything that you might need during your stay.
During the 7 Day, 4 Day, 2 Day or simple 1 Day itineraries you will have the chance to explore the surrounding areas with your guide as you explore local villages, wildlife sanctuaries, monasteries, temples, silk manufacturers etc, markets.
