To start planning your vacation to Terma Linca
Terma Linca is located in the Wangchhu Valley, just before you reach Thimphu on the main Paro-Thimphu road. It is positioned right along the banks of the river with the valley rising up above you, and this is Terma Linca's major USP. If you don't want to be in the center of town, then Terma Linca could be a good choice for you.
It is owned by the Bhutan Royal Family, and it very much comes across that they took their inspiration from the Amankora Hotels in terms of design. The rooms are minimalist and modern with lots of exposed wood and free-standing bathtubs - with really comfortable beds and great views over the river. The rooms are all in three cottages which run down the banks of the river. The exterior of these cottages is Bhutanese in style, using local stone and traditional window carving to bring a little harmony to the international modernity of the rooms. There are two room categories; the Deluxe Rooms offer a small sitting area, and also come with mini bar, safe, writing desk, flat-screen TVs, whereas the Suites have a far larger separate living room.
The main Aie restaurant and Ara Bar are located in a semi-circular room, offering fantastic views over the river and valley beyond. They provide India, Chinese, Thai and European dishes. Apa's Restaurant is located at the other side of the property and is a specialized Bhutanese restaurant.
Terma Linca has a spa, located close to Apa's restaurant, and comes with four treatment rooms, steam room, hot-stone bath and small gym. There is also cookery course and archery on offer.
Terma Linca feels very much like a quality international hotel, but do note that the service levels and cuisine will not be on a par with the international groups such Amankora, Uma or Taj. Its addition to the hotel scene in Bhutan has be important to fill the large void between these exceptional top-end hotels (with the associated higher price-tag) and the very simple guesthouses which were not at all suitable for many guests wanting a hotel of international standard. Therefore, Terma Linca is a good option if you are expecting an out and out luxurious stay.
Terma Linca has 30 Deluxe Rooms and Suites and include flatscreen TVs, WiFi, Mini Bar, Tea/Coffee Maker, Safe and free-standing bathtubs. The Suites have a separate living room, with another TV.
Terma Linca has two restaurants, bar, spa, gym, steam room, hot-stone bath and laundry service.

When to go
In the western, central and eastern Bhutan you will mostly experience cold European-like weather. Winter lasts here from November to March. The Monsoon occurs between June and August when the temperature is normally between 8° and 21°C. October and November are arguably the best months, when the monsoon has passed and the skies are clear. The spring months of March, April and May are best for the flora, but it can be stormy as the monsoon builds up for July-September.
