Description

The minimalist Metropolitan by COMO, Bangkok is a haven for those who love contemporary, slick city escapes. It combines an urban edge with Asian flair and the result is the coolest hotel in Bangkok, located along the vibrant Sathorn Road.

The luxury Metropolitan Bangkok is the chic sister to the eponymous hotel on London’s Park Lane. It attracts guests who want to be at the center of the action, yet at the same time offers a tranquil city escape with yoga classes and nurturing wellness treatments in the fantastically indulgent COMO Shambhala Spa.

The Metropolitan Bangkok is located on Sathorn Road, a dynamic enclave within the Thai capital and a short walk from the financial district. It is a minimalist style hotel with 171 bedrooms and suites decorated in a pared-down, simple style with hints of Thai heritage. The emphasis in the rooms, as in all aspects of the hotel, is fresh, comfortable chic, with simple, natural materials used throughout.

The infamous Met Bar is a great place for evening cocktails and one of the coolest hangouts in the city. Equally enticing are the menus at Nahm, the hotel's contemporary Thai restaurant, and Glow which serves healthy cuisine which complements the hotel's incredible holistic spa. With its ten treatment rooms, indoor pool, yoga studio and gym, the COMO Shambahala Spa is a nurturing urban escape; welcome after a day exploring the frantic but fantastic city of Bangkok.

The COMO Bangkok is a nice, clean, upscale, modern choice for the Thai capital.  This lovely property is comfortable and posh.  COMOs trademark reliance on white and ample use of space provides a calming environment to serve as a counterpoint to the at-times-chaotic energy of the city beyond its doors.  It is conveniently located not far from some of the buzzier Bangkok districts - a few minutes ride from the perennially hip Small Bar, for instance.  It is also home to the much acclaimed Nam restaurant, a Michelin starred star that is known to book months in advance.

The service at the Como Metropolitan is remarkable; the staff are very welcoming and friendly and really do make you feel like you are at home. The rooms are minimal and contemporary in style but have a Thai twist. One of the best parts of my stay here was the delicious food served in their restaurant which uses organic and locally sourced produce.

This hotel is very distinctive, its rooms are minimalist, spacious and serves the purpose for someone wanting to explore Bangkok by day and night as its a walk from the Sky Train. It is home to the best Thai restaurant in town. If you want a hotel with good views, this is not the place for you. The indoor space is lovely, this hotel is all about the location.

Fabulous hotel from which to enjoy Bangkok (although no views). Has a timeless feel to it with classic contemporary dcor, stay in a Metropolitan Room for the best use of space and reserve a table at Nahm Asia's number 1 restaurant where all dishes are authentic and made from scratch, simply delicious. Also allow enough time to enjoy breakfast with its buffet of fresh fruit, juices and pastries as well as an a la carte menu.

From the moment you walk into the lobby of the Metropolitan Bangkok, you feel as though you are in an urban retreat. The Como Shambhala Spa is the highlight and definitely the best spa in Bangkok. Guests are pampered with a fantastic range of treatments, Como products (that are a favorite in the Scott Dunn office!), an outdoor pool, hydro pool and yoga studio with complimentary daily classes - the perfect antidote to a day of frenetic sightseeing and shopping. Even if you are not a spa-junkie, the Metropolitan has lots to offer; sleek and stylish rooms, the iconic Met Bar and great dining. They have recently opened Nahm that I cannot wait to visit. It has been opened by David Thompson, who is famous for his Michelin-starred Nahm at The Halkin hotel in London. I had one of the tastiest meals ever at the original eatery in London and I am sure that the second Nahm, in the home of Thai cuisine, will be outstanding.
