Bangkok is a year round destination. November to April are often the best months to visit Bangkok with the least rain. Temperatures are comfortable until March when the humidity increases. May, September and October are the wettest months and between June and August, you can still visit Bangkok although you will get some rain.

A hidden treat that's perched on Bangkok's Chao Phraya River, Chakrabongse Villas is one of the city's most enchanting hotels. It is ideal for those wanting to avoid Bangkok's glassy international hotels in exchange for something truly unique.
Surrounded by Bangkok's skyscrapers and dazzling temples, Chakrabongse Villas is a tiny hotel that sits in the heart of Bangkok's old city. It's ideally located for exploring this fascinating city. Seven individual suites and rooms snuggle within jungle like gardens that surround the original palace. They are completely unique; some with carved teak wood panelling, others with ornate four poster beds. Some even have kitchenettes, making it ideal for couples and families wanting the option to self-cater a little.
Breakfast is served adjacent to the river with Thai and continental options. Lunch and dinner need to be booked in advance but you'll be rewarded with heavenly curries and fresh fish in a truly intimate location. The recipes are the Royal Families' own and have been passed down from generation to generation.
Other facilities include a pool surrounded by flowering trees, in-villa massages and complimentary kayaks and bikes for those looking for a little more adventure. They also have their own long-tailed boat that can be booked for ad-hoc trips.
Don't expect luxury but do expect bundles of charm and history at Chakrabongse. We also love the fact this boutique hotel sits in such a central location with river views and Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) sitting just in the distance.
There are seven beautiful rooms and suites in total that are all completely different. There are four independent suites that we would recommend as these are more specious. Choose from the River View Suite, the Garden Suite, the Chinese Suite and the Thai House. The River View Suites face Chao Praya River, whilst the Garden Suite and Thai house face into the wonderful lawns and luminous gardens. In a separate annexe there are three smaller rooms.
There are no specific facilities but the hotel does welcome children.
There's a restaurant that serves Western and tasty Thai cuisine along with a crisp swimming pool, in villa massages and a long tail boat for. You'll also find bicycles and kayaks.

Chakrabongse Villas is a lovely place to stay, and perfect for guests who are looking for an intimate, characterful hotel with a lot of charm. With just seven rooms and suites and a small but attentive team looking after guests, it's at the opposite end of the spectrum to the large international luxury chains elsewhere in the city. The location is fantastic - the Royal Palace and Wat Pho temple are within easy walking distance, as is the city's bustling Flower Market.
