The Apsara Rive Droite is a chic and sophisticated boutique hotel that sits across the Nam Khan River, away from Luang Prabang's hustle and bustle. With just nine rooms, a sleek pool and a highly regarded restaurant, it works well as a couples' retreat.
Colorful and contemporary, Apsara Rive Droite is one of Luang Prabang's hippest and most intimate boutique hotels with a wonderful restaurant. The easiest way to arrive at the hotel after a day's sightseeing is by the hotel's wooden boat that ferries you from one river bank to the other. After a short climb up some bamboo stairs you arrive at the serene and tranquil property that's brimming with style. Its location, sitting peacefully at the water's edge, a short boat ride away from the temples and restaurants of Luang Prabang, ensures a quiet and laid back ambiance. We feel it's more suited to couples than families.
The nine room hotel looks more similar to a villa than a hotel; the property is encased by gardens with a small, cool pool at its center. The bedrooms are all roomy and very comfortable with fantastic designer touches. Think polished wooden floors, shuttered French windows and crisp white sheets. They all enjoy either a balcony or a terrace and are adorned with black and white photographs, silk hangings, and lanterns.
All meals can be eaten at the hotel, perfect if you fancy a day relaxing around the pool. The small restaurant spills out into the garden and serves French inspired breakfasts and both Western and Asian inspired meals for the rest of the day.
Getting to and from the main part of town is simple; you can catch the short boat ride to the busier banks of the Nam Khan River, use the hotel's bicycles to make your way across the bridge or you can catch a lift with hotel's very own tuk-tuk. We love all of the options and found they really added to the experience.
Apsara Rive Droite is a delightful and good value option in Luang Prabang that's perfectly suited to couples or families with older children, wanting some peace and quiet after a busy day exploring.
All 9 rooms internally are identical with wooden floors, airy bathrooms, king-size beds and air-conditioning. They are all very spacious, stylish and incredibly comfortable with modern Indochinese inspired artifacts and art, giving them a glamorous feel. The Garden View Deluxe rooms are on the ground floor (direct access out to the gardens and pool) whereas the River View Deluxe rooms are upstairs and have a slightly more private terrace (some have view partial views of the river as well).
Please be aware that Apsara River Droite does not accept children under the age of twelve. Please contact one of our Travel Consultants for a suitable alternative.
There are limited facilities as there are only nine rooms. However, the property does boast a lovely pool, a highly regarded restaurant, free WiFi, in room massages (on request), beautiful gardens and complimentary use of bicycles and transfers by tuk-tuk.

Apsara Rive Droite was such a find. A gorgeous boutique hotel located very close to the center. There are only 9 rooms and the rooms are like a very welcoming guest room - absolutely charming. They are spacious and lovingly decorated. You can enjoy river views from most of the rooms which is a nice bonus too! To get to the center you just take a boat across the river which is available on demand 24 hours and within minutes you will be at the heart of Luang Prabang.
