Komodo Resort is the ultimate paradise for keen divers wanting to explore some of Indonesia's best dive sites in the Komodo National Park. Located just off the coast of popular Labuan Bajo, the resort feels remote and has stunning ocean views.
The rooms are charming thatched bungalows, located a stones throw away from the white sand beach that fringes the island. The interiors are simple but very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom and air-conditioning. Each bungalow has a terrace with sea views, which is a lovely place to relax with a good book after a morning of diving.
All meals are included, and as the resort is run by Italians you can expect hearty 5 course Italian meals or you can also opt for Indonesian cuisine.
Each morning, a new menu for the day is written up and you plan your days meals with your waiter. Run by two Italians, expect delicious fresh food and a selection of fine Italian wines. There is a great house reef but the main focus here is the diving, with some of the best dive sites in Indonesia nearby. There are two scheduled dives each morning on the resort's large dive boat and private trips are also possible. For the more adventurous divers, the resort can plan full day adventures to some more challenging sites in the National Park.
Another draw are the famous Komodo Dragons, Rinca Island which is home to over one thousand of these pre-historic beasts is only half an hour away and well worth an afternoon trip. Sightings are good and you can enjoy a scenic trek on the island to make the most of your time there.
When not diving, relax at your bungalow or enjoy a cocktail at Komodo Dragon Beach Bar. There is also an open-air gym and a small spa. We highly recommend the Divers Massage.
Overall this laid back, no frills resort offers great value for money and works as a fantastic alternative to a live aboard boat which can be expensive.
There are 16 bungalows at Komodo Resort which are comfortable but minimal and simple in style.
The Sunset Restaurant serves delicious Italian and Indonesian meals from a small daily menu. The Beach Bar is a great spot for a sunset cocktail after a busy day of water sports. In addition to the well equipped PADI dive center, there is also a small open air gym and beach spa.
The main focus at Komodo Resort is the diving, there are two scheduled dives each morning and the option to do further afternoon dives if you wish. There is a fantastic house reef, which is perfect for snorkeling but you do have to be careful of the currents. The resort can also arrange trips to see the famous Komodo Dragons.

When to go
Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
