Historic Alexa once carried spices between Sumba, Flores, Sumbawa and Sulawesi. Today it's one of the most exquisite and tastefully restored single cabin boats in Asia that cruises Komodo and its surrounding islands as well as the remote islands of Raja Ampat.
The boat fuses old with new beautifully with a traditional Phinisi ship design combined with refined teak interiors, a collection of tasteful antiques, silk cushions, Persian rugs and panoramic windows that offer the most inspiring views of the fairytale landscape that eastern Indonesia offers.
Whether you take a three night cruise or an eight day cruise (itineraries are incredibly flexible and can start from Bali or Flores), the experience and attention to detail is truly sublime. Often there's freshly caught fish or a seafood BBQ for supper that can be served in the most remote and beautiful settings. With whimsical white cushions, lanterns and candles the picnic lunches and romantic dinners, cooked by a private chef, are really something to remember.
You'll also find an on-board spa therapist for a soothing massage, an under the stars sleeping area, sun-beds, a lounge and library room, a master cabin with balcony and a private dining area and TV room. All of these radiate quality and style, finished with the highest quality fabrics and furniture.
The cruise director can arrange the most wonderful expeditions to remote islands, tribal villages, waterfalls and turtle beaches to make sure you make the most of this remote, exotic and completely unique region.
Flores is also ranked amongst the top diving sights in the world, so we highly recommend Alexa if you have a passion for diving or snorkeling as the quality of equipment and diving instructors really enhance the entire experience.
Itineraries are varied but the cruise does concentrate on the islands of Flores, Moya, Sumbawa and Komodo National Park, a group of majestic islands that are easily some of the most beautiful in Indonesia with pristine beaches and the most spectacular underwater life. In fact, Komodo National Park, which includes Komodo, Rinca and Padar, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's on these islands that you can find the rare Komodo dragon.
Please speak to one of our specialists to work out the best cruising itinerary to suit you. The cruise can be booked on its own or part of a wider trip in Indonesia. We think it's a perfect couples' getaway or honeymoon.
Alexa is a private cruise and therefore there is one beautiful master suite with an en-suite shower and balcony. There are a further five rooms for the crew.
Location & Directions
Alexa is docked in Labuan Bajo, in Flores, an island in eastern Indonesia.
When to go
Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
