The Pottinger is a historically rich property that fills a gap in Hong Kong; it's a city hotel yet it feels homely, comfortable and very elegant. It's also a little more affordable than the plethora of opulent 5* hotels that are sprinkled across the city.
Located with the Central district right on the doorstep, it's possible to head straight from the hotel and into an area brimming with shops and dining options. The Central MTR station is also just a short stroll away for getting further afield. For those wanting to stay within the hotel there's a hearty Italian restaurant and a chocolate shop.
The decor is calm and tasteful; think traditional carriage lamps, pretty oriental and floral wallpapers, crisp linens and floor to ceiling windows. You'll also find a number of striking photographs by Fan Ho, a famous photographer that captured Hong Kong through the 40s, 50s and 60s.
The 68 rooms beautifully fuse the charm of old Hong King with modern luxuries; choose from the Classic Room, Deluxe Room, Studio Suite or Pottinger Suite. The Pottinger Suite and Studio Suites can accommodation two adults and one child.
We feel this is an excellent option for those looking for something graceful, elegant and incredibly comfortable.
The 68 rooms are divided into several different categories; Classic Room, Deluxe Room, Studio Suite and Pottinger Suite. The Classic Rooms are the lead in category; these are the smallest and can't accommodate an extra bed. The Deluxe Rooms are slightly larger and worth the upgrade as they offer a little more space. The Studio Suites, named after surrounding roads, are all a little different. These have a real touch of oriental flavor and heritage. These also have bathtubs. The Pottinger Suite is the largest of all, featuring a bathroom, separate lounge as well as an extra restroom.
There are no specific facilities designed for children at The Pottinger, although extra beds are possible in the suites.
There's a wonderful Italian restaurant and 24 hour concierge service.
