Description

The Mandarin Oriental is extremely well established and in a great location with wonderful views. This elegant hotel is full of colonial charm with outstanding service, excellent facilities, wonderful restaurants and a luxury contemporary touch.

The legendary Mandarin Oriental opened in 1963, being one of the original luxury hotels in Hong Kong, it certainly lives up to its reputation. With views over the glittering Victoria Harbour, the hotel has been refurbished and redesigned to keep ahead of modern expectations of luxury and comfort. The location of the Mandarin Oriental on Hong Kong Island is ideal as many of the best shops and restaurants on offer in this exciting city can be reached on foot.

The sumptuous rooms and suites at The Mandarin Oriental have been luxuriously appointed with sleek interiors and thoughtful ingenuities that will surprise even the most seasoned travelers. Many rooms offer breathtaking harbor views, spectacular in the evenings during the nightly laser light show.

The hotel boasts a number of restaurants, the highlights being the Cantonese Man Wah and Pierre, a one-starred Michelin restaurant set against dramatic views from the 25th floor. Other facilities include a magnificent spa which draws on the healing philosophies of the Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese practices and stylish indoor heated lap pool.

The Mandarin Oriental is an absolute favorite of mine, and ideal for those wanting stylish accommodation in a great location. Like all Mandarin Oriental's the service is impeccable, the dining options are not only some of the tastiest restaurants in the city but they are varied too, and the hotel boasts excellent facilities including a well-renowned spa. Although a top tip - if you aren't wanting to pay top whack for a massage, head to Ten Feet Tall on Queens Road - their 75-minutes foot massage was one of the best I have had and at a third of the cost!

The Harbour Rooms are definitely the rooms to go for to make the most of the amazing location right on Victoria Harbour. These rooms used to have balconies, which were pretty unappealing as it is so humid and noisy but they took the great decision to make the balconies part of the room. The result is a larger living area with floor to ceiling windows at the end to maximize those amazing views. Each room also comes with a pair of binoculars. I thought this was a great touch and I could have spent hours looking through them and watching the world go by.
