Located in Sen Monorom in Cambodia's Mondulkiri province in eastern Cambodia, Mayura Hill Resort is a small and simple boutique retreat that acts as a base for exploring the area that's brimming with activities and full of dramatic scenery. The resort is charming but incredibly simple but we feel it's the best in the area and the well trained staff mean it's a comfortable and relaxing place to rest your head at the end of a busy day of activities. The 14 villas are tastefully decorated, airy and clean with polished wood and modern bathrooms, but don't expect too many luxuries. You'll have a comfortable clean bed, a hot shower and air-conditioning but nothing really beyond that. We recommend going for The Deluxe Villa that has a private balcony or the Family Suite Villa if there are more than two of you traveling. These provide a little more space.
At the heart of the property is a cool, crisp pool that sits in tropical flower laden gardens as well as a children's play area and restaurant. However, you don't go to this area for the accommodation, it's mostly about the experiences. The area is renowned for its hills and valleys shrouded in greenery, making this a fantastic location for trekking and visiting minority tribes. Nearby you'll find the Elephant Valley Project, dramatic Bousra Waterfalls, zip lining and quad biking. This is a great hotel for families that don't mind skipping the luxuries for a few days of adventure. If you don't plan to go back to Cambodia, it's definitely worth the visit.
There are 14 villas in total. Choose from Superior, Twin, Deluxe or Family Villas. We recommend going for a Deluxe Villa or Family Villa that are a little more spacious. The Deluxe Villas also have the added benefit or either a jacuzzi or a bathtub as well as a balcony. They look over either the gardens or the pool.
Families are most welcome at Mayura Hill Resort, although there's no specific kids club. There's a cool swimming pool at the heart of the property as well as a children's play area. There are also lots of child friendly activities in the local area, including zip-lining, quad biking, an elephant project and visits to waterfalls.
Mayura Hill Resort is a small and simple boutique retreat so facilities are minimal. There is a pool, children's play area as well as a restaurant.

When to go
Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.
