Average time to visit
The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March, and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.

The Golden Rock is one of the most iconic Buddhist sites in Burma and Buddhists from around the world make pilgrimages to Mount Kyaiktiyo to visit the site. It is believed that the Golden Rock itself defies gravity and is floating a hair's breadth above the rock it sits on, built on top of a hair of the Buddha himself.

Children are welcome at the hotel but there are no childcare facilities in place. We don't really recommend families with young children travel here due to the very bumpy ride up the mountain.

Mountain Top Hotel is located at the top of Mount Kyaiktiyo, a short walk from the Golden Rock Pagoda in the southern Mon State of Burma.
How to get there
14-hour indirect flight to Yangon, followed by a four-hour drive to Kinmon, the base camp of Kyaiktiyo, There is then a shared hour-long transfer in a large open truck up the mountain which is quite bumpy and not for the faint-hearted!
