Description

Long regarded as the cultural and spiritual heart of Myanmar, Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar. Positioned on the banks of the mighty Ayeryarwaddy River, Sedona Mandalay lies within easy striking distance of former colonial hill stations, ancient cities and other cultural attractions. Visitors to this Golden Palace City can look forward to discovering its rich and colorful heritage in the many historical monuments.

Take in the sacred Mandalay Hill which offers a panoramic view of the city. Rising over 230 meters, the hill's slopes are blanketed by covered stairways filed with small temples at regular intervals. The 1,729-step climb up to the top promises a sight to behold. Be awed by the impressive and magnificent Mandalay Palace, a legacy of its own which shouldn't be missed!

Visit Zegyo Market and indulge in purchases of all things local. The Maha Myat Muni Pagoda, the Kyauk-taw-gyi, the Shwe-Kyaung-aw are other inspiring sights to visit while in Mandalay.

When to go

The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
